What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cowlitz Falls Summer Seasonal position at Lewis County PUD?
About the Position
The position is assigned to the Cowlitz Falls Hydroelectric Project, primarily for the upkeep of park facilities and of wildlife lands. Work may also involve construction and/or maintenance activities on other Project facilities.
This position is classified as summer seasonal and will not exceed a period of six (6) months between May and October. Working generally the same hours as operations personnel 40 hours per week. May require work on an adjusted 40-hour work schedule covering weekends and holidays.
- Park Work:
- Wildlife & Fishery Assistant:
Work consists of duties necessary to maintain and/or enhance wildlife lands and fishery resources. Work tasks may include but not limited to: cutting brush, controlling non-native plant species, repairing fence, fertilizing and mapping and species inventory of vegetation type.
- Facility Maintenance & Repair Worker:
Work consists of activities to construct, maintain and repair other facilities at the Cowlitz Falls Project. Some of the work tasks may include but not limited to: concrete placement, carpentry, placement of underground water lines, roofing, cleanup and organizing of buildings and materials and fence construction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Must be articulate, courteous, and able to work harmoniously with the public as well as other employees.
- Demonstrate the ability to be punctual and regular in attendance.
- Ability to maintain concentration to accurately complete projects and assignments with frequent interruptions.
- Work in a safe manner; able to wear protective devices and clothing.
- Operate various small hand tools, equipment and machinery; to include be limited to lawn mower, weed-eater, pressure washer, tractor with implements, and truck with trailer.
- Grounds maintenance and lawn mowing.
- Perform janitorial and maintenance duties.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Must be 18 years old and be legal to work in the United States.
- Cannot exceed more than four (4) summer seasons.
- Must maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher.
- Preference shall be given to applicants currently living in Lewis County.
Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:
- Must have a valid Driver’s license.
- Must have a First Aid Card with CPR.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, climb stairs, bend, reach, uses hands to finger, handle, or feel, and stand for extended periods of time. Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 60 pounds. Required to speak and hear clearly when communicating over the telephone and in person. Must have good hand- eye coordination, color and night vision.
- Must be in good physical condition, able to traverse rough terrain.
- Maintain balance while working from heights and around water.
- Reach, push, pull and twist during work with materials
