Position Summary
The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for researching and executing an effective sales and marketing strategy within an assigned geographical area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Regular customer interface through phone, email, videoconference and in-person visits sufficient to foster regular inquiries and obtain preference at bid time.
- Contact erectors while in the area to cultivate relationships.
- Interface with company Estimating Department to coordinate proposals and post-bid responses through close.
- Screen inquiries and determine bid/no bid and respond to the customer within 24 hours.
- Review proposals before they go out to customer and provide edits as needed.
- Submit proposals and follow up. Determine what the company needs to do to close and report back for input on any concessions the company may be willing to make.
- Prepare sub/supplier bidder lists for project pursuits and solicit the bids for erection, joists and deck, and miscellaneous metals.
- Develop a close working relationship with erectors, joist and deck suppliers for strategic advantage selling work.
- Provide pre-con support to company’s management group up to the Turnover Meeting and following the turnover meeting as required for a smooth transition to operations.
- Follow up with customers for job satisfaction including visiting jobsites and making office visits.
- Reporting consists of weekly “Week Past/Week Ahead” email (meetings, RFP’s received, proposals sent, etc.), Weekly Sales Report and expense reports.
- Participate in Weekly Sales Meeting.
- Collect market intelligence regarding opportunities both within and outside the company’s current market focus to assist in the on-going market diversification required to stay ahead of buying trends.
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the steel fabrication industry. Minimum of 5 years of sales experience in the steel fabrication industry. Bachelor's degree in Business or Marketing. Ability to work remotely and independently. Ability to cold-call, make new contacts, obtain properly qualified inquiries and close sales. Must be able to manage multiple project pursuits effectively.
Physical Demands
Requires overnight travel 2-3 weeks per month. Must have a professional appearance. All of the physical demands listed are essential functions.
