The Charleston LGC Group site manufactures Reference Materials (RM’s) and Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) to support the environmental, food safety, forensic, public health, petrochemical, and industrial hygiene industries. The site also manufactures environmental sampling products.
Job Description
The Production Chemist I/II is responsible for the manufacturing of reference standard solutions by following routine procedures and operations of laboratory equipment. This is a highly collaborative position and requires a high level of teamwork and productivity. We are looking for individuals that can thrive in a fast-paced laboratory setting and demonstrate ability to prioritize and organize work with guidance from team leads and supervisor. Our site manufactures both catalog and custom solutions for customers requiring focused bench work, detailed record keeping and flexibility in daily tasks.
- Produce and package organic standards quickly and accurately.
- Able to learn and demonstrate fine motor skills for weighing and diluting products.
- Able to seal and label ampules consistently based on product specifications
- Operates laboratory equipment including analytical balances, syringes, and pipettes.
- Operates manufacturing equipment including ampule sealers and label printers
- Assists with inventory management of laboratory supplies, chemicals and solutions.
- Meets required performance goals determined by supervisor including bench times and deadlines.
- Able to learn chemical nomenclature, properties, and proper handling of neats and solutions.
- Able to adapt effectively to change in priorities to meet production goals on a day-to-day basis.
- Assists coworkers with procedures and operation of equipment as experience increases.
- Become proficient in advanced organic standard production for either semivolatile or volatile reference standard solutions as directed by supervisor based on business needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree is required, chemistry degree preferred
- 2 years of experience in manufacturing, laboratory, or related field is a plus for Chemist II
- 0-2 years of experience for Chemist I
- Ability to use lab equipment safely and correctly
- Ability to use Microsoft Office for daily communication and tasks
- Comprehension of chemical and mathematical formulas needed for reference material production
