What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Analyst position at LHH?

LHH Recruitment Solutions is searching for a Cost Analyst to join a growing construction services client in Madison Heights, MI. The Cost Analyst will perform analysis of all costs related to purchasing and job costing including, variance analysis between budget and actual costs, preparing accurate and timely financial reports and forecasts to management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Lead company efforts to accurately reflect job-costing, to include developing process and procedures, implementing and maintaining software solutions, and advising management on best practices.

Tracking all project related activities, job-costing and project billing.

Reviews vendor invoices and provided information to accounting to accurately reflect costs within the scope of job costing.

Tracks and reports expenditures against job budgets and makes recommendations in an effort to reduce cost.

Obtains purchasing cost data, performs data analysis, and interprets results.

Collects data to prepare reports detailing purchase and cost variances between budgeted and actual amounts of raw material, component, capital, and MRO items.

Produce budgets and forecasts related to all COGS purchases.

Analyzes and reviews cost effective purchases.

Work closely with field personnel to review project status and ensure transactions are booked accurately and timely.

Assists in the process of closing out jobs, producing waivers and sworn statements and invoicing customers

Your Background

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline preferred.

3 years of experience to include a minimum of 2 years of job costing in a construction or manufacturing environment and solid understanding of percentage of completion revenue recognition.

Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills, with a focus on Excel.

Entrepreneurial mindset.

Organized, self-starter requiring little direction.

Ability to perform in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Effective communication skills.
