Description
As an Extrusion Machine Operator (D Group) with Liberty Plastics, you'll join a team of dedicated individuals from diverse backgrounds who are committed to safety & quality and take great pride in creating corrugated plastic solutions that protect and provide product security to a range of industries.
This full-time position will report on 2nd shift to the Production Supervisor at our Liberty Plastics location in Baldwyn, Mississippi.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up and operate all downstream equipment to include, shearer, slitter, down stacker and winder.
- Perform setups and changeover.
- Follow instructions in SOP's and refer to them when problems arise
- Refer to the spec sheet and ensure that the material meets all specifications including but not limited to: width, length, color, and any additives that can be verified.
- Ensure that the proper size pallets are being used and all packaging procedures are followed as outlined in the spec sheet.
- Perform quality check on every pallet and document on Quality checklist (refer to SOP's for proper procedure for tests)
- Monitor quality
- Record the weight of all pallets (rolls)and turn totals in to team leader per order
- Tag and enter each completed pallet into inventory using RF gun (super backflush)
- Report any quality issues to team leader.
- Set knives to the appropriate size for upcoming orders following the spec sheet. (use required PPE when handling any sharp object)
- Monitor machine performance including the web guide, trim grinders, wind-up roller, and conveyer belt. Report any issues to team leader.
- Troubleshoot any minor problems as they arise. Seek team leader's assistance if needed.
- Assist team members as needed
- Ensure that all scrap is proper palletized and tagged as it is cleaned up.
- Cross train in all positions in Extrusion department
- Perform other duties as assigned by team leader.
- Keep area clean, organized, and free of debris.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, lift up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to work well with others and apply effective communication skills.
- You thrive in the speed and precision demanded in operating industrial equipment.

- You take pride in keeping a safe, clean and organized work area.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- High School diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 1 year of work experience within a manufacturing environment preferred
- Ability to read work instructions (i.e. SOP's, Specs, etc.)
- Must be available to work 2nd Shift
- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts
- Must be able to work overtime as required
