Lids Sports Group, operating within Lids Holdings, Inc. is the largest licensed sports retailer in North America, selling fan and fashion-oriented headwear and apparel across North America, Europe, and Australia.
Operating out of Indianapolis, IN, Lids retail stores and affiliated concepts offer officially licensed headwear from collegiate teams and major professional sports teams, as well as branded headwear and other specialty fashion categories in the latest styles and trends in over 1,200 locations and counting. In addition to the Lids banner, Locker Room by Lids is a mall-based retailer of sports headwear, apparel, accessories, and novelties which also operates under the Fanzz, Just Sports, Seattle, Buckeye Corner, Tiger Mania, Sports Fan-Attic, and Jersey City nameplates along with having locations in Macy’s department stores throughout the United States. Lids has also just opened an exciting new storefront called Lids U, which is a store concept dedicated to collegiate sports fans across the country. Additionally, Lids has operated sport-specific locations in the past, including clubhouse shops for the Yankees, Cardinals, and Dodgers, along with operating the flagship stores for each NBA and NHL franchise.
General Description
The FP&A Analyst is a member of the FP&A team and is tasked with the analysis of past and present financial and operational data of the organization along with forecasting future revenues and expenditures by applying principles of finance/accounting. The analyst is involved in the preparation of the historical financial statements, KPI reporting, and forward-looking statements for the executive level reporting package.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Involved in the annual budgeting process and overall company plan
- Perform monthly forecasts of the business, including budget reviews and variance analysis
- Assist with preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements
- Develop periodic reporting on key business performance metrics and analyze trends
- Develop ad-hoc reports on an as-need basis and communicate key takeaways to senior leadership, including identifying opportunities or risks
- Aid in the development and maintenance of the long-range strategic forecasts to provide the business financial insight into current growth plans
- Support the field operations team through involvement in operational finance activities relating to wage planning, sales budgets, and store bonus calculations/payouts
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Required Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 0-2 years of experience in accounting and/or financial analysis
- Exceptionally proficient in reporting, managing, and analyzing data
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles, CPA is a plus but not a necessity
- Excellent proficiency in excel (can perform complex functions)
- Proficient in MS Office and general ledger packages
