Job Title: Youth Center Manager
Position Type: Full-time non-exempt (hourly)
Salary Range: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience

ORGANIZATION: Life House is an innovative nonprofit organization serving at-risk and homeless youth ages 14 to 20 located in downtown Duluth, MN. Focusing on Positive Youth Development through housing stability, educational support, economic security, improved health, and connection to community, Life House programs assist youth who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to overcome poverty, trauma, mental illness, low educational achievement and joblessness to transition to independent living.
SUMMARY: Reporting to the Program Director, the Youth Center Manager builds relationships with youth and young families who are unstably housed, misusing substances, and encountering traumatic experiences. The Youth Center Manager is responsible for overall quality, performance, and safety of the Youth Center. The Program Manager also ensures youth receive necessary supportive services in a thoughtful, welcoming and inclusive environment.
Focus area duties and responsibilities – Youth Center Manager:
- Provide oversight, guidance, program development, and coordination of Youth Center programs – ensuring effective best practices.
- Communicate clear expectations to Youth Center staff to ensure consistent, appropriate responses to youth behavior.
- Manage, support, supervise, and evaluate Life House Youth Center staff, including annual reviews, staff schedules, etc.
- Lead weekly youth center staff meetings and annual retreats.
- Coordinate with staff monthly and daily activities; collect appropriate data on participants in youth groups/classes on-site per funding requirements.
- Maintain current information on youth service providers in our region and work with the Program Director to enhance current programming and create program performance standards.
- Ensure Youth Center data collection is accurately reported into Apricot and other data systems as needed; complete program-related reporting as required.
- Represent Life House at community meetings and events; attend and participate in community trainings as necessary.
- Assist the Executive Director and Program Directors with other duties as needed.
Focus area duties and responsibilities – Youth Center:
- Respond to all emergency / crisis calls within the Youth Center, following outlined procedures including proper notification, documentation, and programmatic follow-up.
- Develop healthy, supportive relationships with youth while demonstrating professional boundaries. Gauge youth readiness to access Life House or community partner’s case management services.
- Participate in weekly Life House staff meetings and case consultation to discuss Youth Center Program participants and provide progress updates.
- Maintain clear communication with Life House program staff to facilitate consistent and appropriate responses to youth behavior.
qualifications:
Education: Preferred Bachelor of Art in human services field or equivalent experience
Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: mental health, chemical dependency, emotional/behavioral special education, vulnerable youth issues
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to work effectively with youth with a variety of identities, cultures, and backgrounds including ethnic/racial minorities and LGBTQ youth
- Demonstrated excellence in organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Office suite, knowledge of donor and member tracking databases, knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite helpful
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Minnesota Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance.
