Coating Machine Operator (Nutraceutical).
Basic Job Description:
As a Coating Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating the coating machine to coat capsules and tablets with enteric, clear, or color coating. You will be responsible for weighing liquid and powder quantities of coating materials and mixing the solution. In addition to the mixing, you will also be responsible for cleaning the coating equipment, utensils, and the room in which you operate.

As a Coating Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating the coating machine to coat capsules and tablets with enteric, clear, or color coating. You will be responsible for weighing liquid and powder quantities of coating materials and mixing the solution. In addition to the mixing, you will also be responsible for cleaning the coating equipment, utensils, and the room in which you operate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Comply with current good manufacturing practices (cGMPs), follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), and must be able to interpret, follow and complete scheduled production on time.
- Must have the ability to read, follow detailed Batch Production Record instructions and fill out documents.
- Verify raw material lot no’s that were pulled by Warehouse.
- Ability to accurately use platform bench scales to weigh liquid material.
- Properly load and operate the mixer to evenly distribute color or enteric coating material.
- Set up and operate equipment; if needed, adjust settings during operation.
- Perform in-process checks until the batch is complete i.e. product temp, spray speed, etc.
- Discharge coated capsules/tablets into sanitary containers and calculate yield.
- Can be exposed to allergens (such as egg powders), odors, dust or particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
- Ensure proper operation of equipment and promptly reports any concerns to management.
- Clean and sanitize equipment/mixer/hot air cabinet filters/exhaust cabinet filters prior to and/or after use; disassembling and reassembling as needed.
- Sweep/wash floors and work areas to maintain equipment and work area in a sanitary condition.
- Return unused liquid raw materials to designated areas.
- Develop strong lines of communication with other co-workers to ensure plant efficiency.
- Must wear appropriate gear: hairnets, gloves, hearing protection, dust masks, etc.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Experience and Skilled required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to use calculator to add, multiply, subtract and divide decimals and basic units of measure.
- 2 years of experience operating coating machines

Working Conditions:
- Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs.
- Required to stand for long periods of time, stoop and bend, stretch and reach with arms extended to remove or lift boxes.
- Will be exposed to allergens (powders), odors, dust, or particles.
- Must be able to withstand loud noises; noise level can be loud.
- Non-management full-time position: Mon-Fri (8 hr shift) -- may be required to work overtime and weekend.
- No Working Remote.
