Overview:
Lifescan Labs of Illinois is looking to hire a Dispatcher to deal with our increasing workload. Our dispatch department is responsible for delivering accurate information to our phlebotomists and couriers in a timely manner. They are the link between our clients and Lifescan Labs of Illinois. A person suited for this job will have exceptional English verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and will be organized, detail-oriented, and able to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
Responsibilities:
- Answer calls from clients and dispatch field staff accordingly.
- Deliver daily routes to phlebotomists and couriers.
- Communicate effectively with multiple departments.
- Keep accurate records of field staff and their work using web-based applications and reports.
- Manage scheduling, changes in draw orders, and pick-ups.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and perform assigned duties in an ethical and responsible manner.
- Work to ensure laboratory goals are met.
- Ensure field staff respects policies and procedures set forth by the client.
- Effective written and verbal communication in English is required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Direct and lead Phlebotomists’ daily workflow.
- Adjust routing as needed.
- Assigning open homes to phlebotomists.
- Communicate with couriers regarding pick-up and drop-off locations.
- Manage open homes and communicate with correlating departments.
- Manage STAT turnaround times.
- Deliver department information via end-of-shift report.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Excellent communication skills required
- Detail oriented
- PC skills
- Ability to multitask and problem
- Ability to learn policies and procedures and apply them in the workplace
- Previous dispatch experience preferred
- Experience with courier software preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology, or ability to learn medical terminology
- Experience of 5 years as a dispatcher or customer service representative preferred
