Description
Responsible for the timely planning, sourcing, PO generation, scheduling of receipts and follow through of purchased inventory and requisitioned items. Reviewing, creation and maintenance of jobs for both internal and sub-contracted parts, in support of the company’s needs. These products are to be secured at a cost, quality and delivery standard consistent with Lighting Services Inc company's and performance objectives.
A Junior Buyer will have basic knowledge of Purchasing skills. The objective is to continue to increase skillset to obtain growth and advance career path in Purchasing.
Requirements
Principal Accountabilities:
Initiates purchase orders and amendments for inventory, MRO and requisitioned items.
Reviews all related documentation for accuracy and conform to company policy (signature approvals, part numbers, quantity, return/cancellation policy, QA policy, etc.).
Reviews MRP for demand of inventory items and issues PO accordingly.
Continually seeks new sources, processes, techniques and vendors.
Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; selects suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness within the scope of authority.
Interviews with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, inventory control and management, negotiates prices and delivery terms.
Maintains regular supplier communication and follow-up meetings, both in-house and at supplier locations.
Visits supplier facilities to qualify new sources and assist in the resolution of production, design, quality, and/or delivery issues for existing suppliers.
Ensures PO confirmation is received and reviewed for content and accuracy.
Generate fund requests as required by the terms of the PO (check, wire transfer, deposit, etc.)
Manages delivery of product (expedite/de-expedite).
Update internal customers with status and receipt of product via e-mail, Missing Parts List, etc.
Maintains all related documents and information electronically in Epicor both by way of attaching documents and completing memos on: PO, Quotes, Supplier communication, Jobs, etc. (confirmations, tracking information, supplier communication, etc.)
Review MRP for Job requirements and issues jobs accordingly, both internal and sub-contracted work.
Maintains all documentation in support of Job materials being sent to, stored at, sub-contractor locations. (packing lists, receipt of material, bin location transfers, etc).
Studies market prices and trends, engineering developments and manufacturing method improvements applicable to assigned responsibilities and advises company activities with Purchasing Manager/VP Operations.
Maintains information on parts for accuracy (SS, LT, MOQ, DOS, etc.).
Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
Coordinates, as appropriate, accounting, sales, quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers.
Continuous improvement to Purchasing methods for reduction of inventory, cost and lead-times.
Assist with development and implementation of policies and procedures regarding purchasing activities.
Manage Quarterly Supplier Scorecards and reporting of such.
Provides reports to Purchasing Manager/VP Operations as required, supplier metrics, cost savings, lead-times, supplier meeting documentation, etc.
Support internal customers in a timely and professional manner.
Applies themselves to the tasks at hand to accomplish in a timely manner regardless of what unusual circumstances and roadblocks occur.
Continually develops additional skills so that they can better and more effectively perform their tasks to fulfill assignments.
Plans and arranges their activities into logical, practical and feasible schedules.
Performs at a high level of accuracy, seeking error free work.
Performs other related duties as required.
Preferred:
AS degree or some college with emphasis in business administration, economics, and/or engineering.
Experience with Epicor ERP system.
ISM/APICS Certification a plus.
Knowledge of track lighting manufacturing environment is desirable.
Required:
Basic knowledge of Purchasing skills in a manufacturing environment.MRP.
Personal computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office.
