Hourly Rate: $25.14 - $33.78

Assist in the performance of de-escalating a crisis event. Help to develop a plan for community services and referrals.

Assisting in the performance of the crisis assessment, development of a safety plan for persons who are ready to transition to a lower level of care and performing follow up contacts following an acute care crisis.

Crisis De-Escalation, Crisis Assessment, Safety Planning:

  • Respond in person to any individual experiencing a behavioral health crisis in community-based settings.
  • Work with the individual in crisis and their family or support network to address and de-escalate the current crisis.
  • Help identify additional services and support to meet the needs of the individual in crisis and actively connect the individual directly to services and supports whenever possible.
  • Perform follow up contacts with individuals and families after the initial contact.
  • Accompany individuals as an advocate, role model, and demonstrating living skills when they are needing to connect to services and supports in the community.

Documentation/Reporting:

  • Complete Clinical Documentation of Assessment, Interventions, follow up services and safety planning.
  • Assist in the collection of Key Performance Indicators.

Education:

  • Provide mobile crisis program and crisis skills training education to community partners when requested, or as needed.
  • Participate in required training to maintain competencies in mobile crisis response.

Minimum Education Level

Associate 1: 

Two- Three years 

Specifics:  Three years in a human services or related field.


Associate 2:

Bachelors 

Specifics: In behavioral science field. 

 

Minimum Experience Level

Associate 1: 

Two- Three years 

Specifics:  Three years in a human services or related field.


Associate 2: None

Specifics: Must meet minimum qualifications for a certification as a Qualified Mental Health Associate per MHACBO.

 

Substitution Note: Experience can be used in lieu of minimum education requirements. Will accept an Associate’s degree with 2 years of experience in behavioral health field or a high school diploma/GED and 5 years of experience in behavioral health field. Will consider experience in highly acute situations, such as emergency medical response, firefighting, disaster response, law enforcement, security, or related field.


Certifications 

Certification(s) required 

Specifics: Currently hold or able to obtain within six months of hire:  QMHA certification through MHACBO.  See the MHACBO site for current certification requirements.                  

Driver’s License 

Oregon Driver's License required

Specifics: Must obtain within 30 days of hire.


Desirable Qualifications:  

Bilingual and/or bicultural competencies for the Latino population are preferred.


Knowledge of:

  • Basic knowledge of Mental Health symptoms and diagnoses.
  • De-escalation techniques.
  • Basic Motivational Interviewing.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of community services and how to access them.
  • Privacy, Confidentiality, dual relationships, and ethics in healthcare.

 

Skill or ability to:

  • Document clinical activities in the electronic health record (EHR) both effectively and efficiently.
  • Integrate an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the interactions with others, both inside and outside of the organization.
  • Practice self-care, stress management techniques, and understand professional boundaries to assure ability to effectively work in acute settings.
  • Be organized, know how to triage, be able to communicate intent when there may be multiple requests for your assistance at one time.
  • Convey information, ideas, and facts both orally and in writing to supervisors, colleagues, and individuals, inside and outside the county, using language and a format the audience will best understand.   
  • Utilize computers and other technology to communicate in written and verbal forms (e.g., word processing, texts, emails, spreadsheets, department-specific software).
  • Effectively relate well with others, including supervisors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the county. Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and working to maintain constructive working relationships.  
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work. Show up to work on time, and follows instructions, policies, and procedures. Meet productivity standards, deadlines, and work schedules.   

WORKING CONDITIONS

Job Conditions: Work with other professionals in performing these duties. Primarily respond to requests for assistance in the community (i.e., people’s homes, at storefronts, at the library, at emergency shelters...wherever the person in crisis is located) as long as it is safe to do so. May be required to transport and provide side by side support to individuals in a county owned vehicle to help connect them with needed resources.  

 

Work Location: Lincoln County  

 

Travel: Travel throughout the County is required; travel outside of the County may be required for education, networking, training.
