Job Description:
Tugboat captain is responsible for safe operation of tugboats. Commands tugboat to tow barges into and out of harbors, straits, estuaries, rivers, and bays. Signals workers on deck to rig towlines to barges and determine course and towing speeds. Steers Tugboat to push or pull barges to destination and to berth and unberth ships, avoiding reefs, outlying shoals and other hazards. Utilizes navigation devices and has a thorough understanding of maritime law and safety regulations. Must have the ability to effectively communicate.
Key Responsibilities:
· Preparation, management and facilitation of safety meetings and safety drills.
· Martian safety standards by enforcing all regulations.
· Plan and manage voyage plans and paperwork. Maintain logs for all activities on board the vessel, i.e.: fuel consumption, repairs, and other relevant information.
· Manage a crew of deckhands and apprentices who take care of the maintenance of the boat.
· Navigate the boat through difficult water or narrow channels using knowledge of tides, currents, and wind patterns.
· Monitoring weather conditions to ensure the safety of the crew and vessel.
· Inspecting equipment and machinery on board the boat for damage or wear.
Applicant Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Must Have Minimum 200 Ton Inland with Master of Towing Endorsement
TWIC Card
Ability to lift 40 pounds safely and unassisted.
Minimum of 2 years experience with Tugboats and barges.
Available 7 days a week and be on a vessel for up to 72 hours at a time.

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay range offered for this position is $35 to $45 per hour. These figures represent what Lind Marine reasonably expect to pay for this position, but actual compensation offered will depend on numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to qualifications, skills, experience, location, education, and market data. Lind Marine reserves the right to modify the range in the future.
This position will require DOT drug test and Physical along with be added to the random drug testing pool through Preferred Alliance.
