Our work addresses a spectrum of needs that include intervention, prevention, and advocacy. We educate, train, and advocate to prevent issues of substance use, mental health challenges, and thoughts of suicide from reaching crisis levels. But when a crisis arises or support is needed, we are available 24/7/365 to intervene with personalized help.

Remote Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) Case Manager Position Summary:
In 2021 Lines for Life launched a telephone addiction recovery center as part of Oregon's Ballot Measure 110 Drug Decriminalization and Addiction Treatment Initiative. Lines for Life is seeking to hire Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) Case Managers to support statewide addiction/recovery services in Oregon. This position will work with clients to ensure that they have an Individual Intervention Plan (IIP) and that barriers to fulfilling the goals of the IIP are addressed. This position may also case manage Lines for Life’s familiar voices, place Caring Contacts follow-up calls to patients referred by hospitals, and answer peer support crisis calls and texts and act as an ambassador of a peer support program.

Remote Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) Case Manager Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate the culture of Lines for Life by modeling behavior that supports the organization’s goals and philosophies.
  • Support clients with developing an Individual Intervention Plan (IIP) and with overcoming barriers to fulfilling the goals of the IIP. Effective case management includes conducting assessments, collaboratively planning, facilitating linkage to resources, monitoring, and advocacy.
  • Utilize harm reduction strategies to assist callers in determining how best to be supported as well as to what services to be connected.
  • Utilize the stages of change model and motivational interviewing to encourage, support and connect individuals with harm reduction interventions. Lines for Life knows that not everyone is ready for, nor desires complete abstinence. Case Managers will address safer use and managed use in our efforts to meet people where they are at.
  • Goal planning will be client-driven with instruction, as needed, by the case manager on how to set goals and objectives.
  • Referrals will be offered to and negotiated with the client.
  • Case Manager will have frequent and even daily contact with individuals where needed. We estimate that case manager will handle a case load of approximately 40 clients and estimate that the case management will be intensive in the early days of each client’s cycle and the time commitment will become progressively less so over the month.
  • Assist with maintaining a database of resources that include syringe exchange and other harm reductions programs and share these with clients as appropriate.
  • Ensure case management documentation includes the key information required for clinical purposes, as well as to meet the reporting requirements for Oregon Health Authority as described in the Ballot Measure #110 contract.
  • Answer crisis calls and texts on Lines for Life’s peer support lines, including the Lifeline, Military Helpline, Alcohol & Drug Helpline, YouthLine and Senior Loneliness Line in accordance with Lines for Life’s policies and procedures.
  • Provide person-centered coordination of care for Lines for Life’s familiar voices or callers with complex needs on its crisis lines.
  • Place Caring Contacts follow-up calls with clients recently discharged or receiving outpatient care and help to reduce the barriers to accessing services.
  • Link individuals who identify wanting to pair with a peer to a peer. Act as an ambassador for the peer support program to clinical staff and community partners.
  • Perform other duties, such administrative and organizational tasks as needed.

  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC)
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct assessments, collaboratively develop Individual Intervention Plans, facilitate linkage to resources, monitor plans, and advocate.

  • Able to handle high levels of stress

  • Proficient in web-based computer environment and multi-line phone system
Remote Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) Case Manager Preferred Qualifications:
  • Lines for Life believes peer support is a critical component of recovery and values having Case Managers who are peers. Certified Peer Support Specialist (PSS) is a strong preference.
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related behavioral health field
  • 3 years of case management experience
  • ASIST certification and crisis intervention experience
  • Experience in a call center environment

Remote Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) Case Manager Training

  • Lines for Life requires extensive Crisis Lines Onboarding training, which can be completed remotely. New hires must attend 5 weeks of paid crisis lines onboarding training. The training consists of 3 weeks between 8:30am - 5:00pm Pacific Time, Monday through Friday, plus 2 weeks of additional precepting training. The schedule for precepting can vary. Training requires participation and being on camera over Zoom. Equipment is provided. You must have private high speed internet and a confidential place to take calls to meet security and technical requirements.
Remote Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) Case Manager Work Schedule:

  • We are looking for individuals with the availability to work Swing and/or Overnight shifts
  • Our crisis lines are operated 24/7. This position requires working some holidays and working weekends.

Remote Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) Case Manager Compensation Package:

The starting wage for the Remote Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) Case Manager is $21.48/hr (CADC, QMHA equivalent) to $24.55 (CADC, Master's degree in related field). Lines for Life also offers a 10% shift differential when employees work the overnight shift. Remote Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) Case Manager Physical Requirements:

  • Work is primarily conducted in an office environment and requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Work can be done remotely from anywhere in Oregon.
  • This position requires high energy, patience and controlling one’s emotions, as well as the ability to think analytically.
