Job Description

Job Summary:  

The Human Resources Generalist provides Human Resource support to the Director of Human Resources in order to meet organizational goals and objectives. Responsibilities include contract and policy interpretation and first level employee relations, payroll liaison, benefits enrollment and administration, leave of absences, HRIS and reporting, handling specific compensation programs, such as the sign-on and referral bonuses and working with the HR team handling employee events and recognition. 

Job Duties:

  • Acts as a liaison and provide technical HR support to resolve employment related issues, interprets and applies human resources policies and procedures; makes recommendations for corrective action; and provides daily HR support to company management and team members.
  • Supports the Talent Acquisition process which includes answering benefits and payroll questions; providing user access to Paycom and assisting with recruitment events if necessary.
  • Supports the onboarding process to include delivery of new hire orientation, processing new hires in the HRIS/payroll database.
  • Management of Workers Compensation to include, filing of first report of injury for employee injuries and accidents.  Tracks progress of employees on modified duty status and monitor injury trends. Maintains OSHA 300 log and posts annually OSHA 300A log to ensure compliance.     
  • Handles benefits enrollment and benefits orientation for both union and non-union employees. Prepares benefits packets, flyers, summaries, etc.; is knowledgeable of benefit plans offered as well as COBRA regulations. Coordinates COBRA benefits.
  • Audits monthly invoices for benefits and voluntary insurance programs for HR Director to review and pay.
  • Assists in managing of FMLA, NJFLA, PLOA and other leaves including leave approval and tracking of leaves. Provides company and legal notices, advises managers of status of leaves, and sends out timely follow-up letters for compliance of leaves. Provides benefits information and cost to those going on leaves.
  • Generates and maintains employee electronic files and assures completeness within legal and policy driven timeframes. Provides completed files to HR Recruiter/On-Boarding Specialist.  
  • Processes data for employee changes and terminations to include employee action notice, DC-10 unemployment mailing and final check validation.
  • Coordinates Unemployment requests/documents for Unemployment claims through 3rd party administrator. Provides copies of all Unemployment Claims to our Third Party Carrier within a timely manner.
  • Coordinates Fact-Finding and Appeal Hearings for unemployment claims.  Notifies appropriate department manager if needed to attend hearing.  Organizes employee file for hearings.
  • Verification of Employment for employees, previous employees, other employers and agencies in a timely manner. 
  • Manages the new hire and annual performance review process and tracking of completed evaluations.
  • Provides HRIS reports as needed by regulatory agencies, government, benefits providers, brokers, third party administrators, management, etc. Audits HRIS system quarterly to ensure information and reports are current.
  • Assists HR Director with research projects and/or special projects, such as employee handbook, new employee orientation, employee or employer events, benefits surveys, benefits education/workshops, etc. 
  • Maintains seniority list posting at least once annually as required in CBA.
  • Maintains organization of electronic and personnel files/records/file storage and assumes responsibility of record retention. Maintains retention as required by law. 
  • Assists with setting-up and conducting employee events. If necessary, handles details after the event.
  • Maintains employee bulletin boards for compliance of required postings (Federal, State & Local), outdated materials, and eye appeal of information.   
  • Performs other duties or assignments as needed.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Human Resources or related field required
  • Must have at least 2-3 years of proven Human Resource Management experience, preferably in healthcare. 
  • Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations. 
  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred

Professional Requirements

  • Adheres to company and departmental personal appearance and dress code policy.  Reports to work in a clean, neat and professional appearance.   
  • Wears identification at all time while on duty, or representing Lions Gate at functions.
  • Demonstrates dependability and punctuality by reporting to work on time as scheduled.
  • Complies with all Lions Gate policies regarding ethical business practices as outlined in the Corporate Compliance Plan.
  • Maintains and ensures compliance with current requirements, including all State, Federal and regulations including OSHA safety protocol and standards.
  • Completes annual mandatory education requirements (Corporate Compliance, HIPAA, in-service, etc.)
  • Assumes accountability for policies and procedures as contained in the Employee Handbook.
  • Maintains a positive behavior while providing quality services to resident/family members. 
  • Follows the preventing resident rights/abuse policies and procedures and follows the established incident reporting procedures.
  • Maintains and ensures resident and facility information as confidential material at all times.
  • Works at maintaining a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with departments, staff, co-workers and management. 
  • Represents Lions Gate in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Maintains and obeys the dietary laws for maintaining a Kosher environment in identified areas.
  • Attends departmental meetings and in-services as scheduled and required.
  • Accepts assignments in a cooperative and positive manner.
  • Keeps work area neat, clean and orderly.
  • Performs all duties of job to assure resident and personal safety and the protection of co-workers and facility property. 
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations.
