POSITION SUMMARY: The Bag & Box Material Handler is responsible for supporting the bag lines to safely deliver the highest quality products at the best efficiency and lowest scrap possible through the use of effective manufacturing methods. The Bag & Box Material Handler reports to the Shift Leader.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for scrap, efficiency, and product quality
- Make the allowable amount of box bottoms and lids according to specification for your shift and to start the next shift and keep the machines stocked with the allowable amount of box bottoms
- Responsible for moving the boxes down the conveyor line, placing the lids on boxes, banding the boxes, affixing labels to the product box lid, and palletizing according to bag specifications
- When pallets are full place them in the drop area of warehouse for shipping/receiving to put away
- Supply all raw materials to the bag & box production area
- Empty all scrap containers once per shift or as needed
- Bale scrap as required
- Provide relief for the cappers or helical inserters as needed
- Responsible for doing scheduled PM work to material handling equipment
- Assist operators and QA to assure that quality standards are upheld and that any suspect or defective product is appropriately destroyed or placed on hold for the Quality Facilitator’s review and decision
- Work as a valuable team member throughout the production room to accomplish the business goals:
- Help inspector/packers and bag machine operators as needed
- Assist and work closely with Quality, Maintenance, and Technical resources to ensure that issues are being addressed to optimize the performance of the line
- Provide feedback and suggestions for improvements
- Communicate in a positive and respectful manner to resolve all issues
- Complete all documentation accurately
- Ask for help when the need arises
- Assist in the training of other personnel in the material handling department
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- High Diploma/GED
- Previous manufacturing and warehousing experience is preferred
- Ability to work safely and effectively with minimal supervision while working independently or as a team
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and maintain strong organizational skills
