Adult ELL Classroom Instructor-Substitute
Reports to: ELL Class Manager
Pay: $17-$19/hr
Summary
Literacy Green Bay conducts 4 levels of adult ELL class instruction that align with NWTC’s adult ELL classes. Classes meet for 2 hours twice weekly, both mornings (9:00 – 11:00 AM) and evening (6:00 – 8:00 PM) hours for 43 weeks per year. This position would act as a substitute in the event that an instructor was not able to make it to class (on-call as needed).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Implement the goals and objectives of the adult ELL classes.
· Implement lessons for adult learners that align with Wisconsin state ELA standards.
· Incorporate digital/computer literacy lessons into instruction.
· Maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
· Keep attendance and other classroom records.
· Communicate student concerns (attendance/progress/behavior) to Class Manager.
· Complete students’ attendance and progress reports.
· Supervise/provide feedback to assigned college interns and classroom aides.
· Assist Class Manager with student registration/orientation when requested/ as needed
· Assists with goal setting and reassessment as directed by Class Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelors’ degree in Education preferred
· ESL teaching experience/Adult education teaching experience, desired
· Ability to work with a diverse/multicultural population
· Ability to work independently, problem solve, communicate well
· Ability to use classroom technology: interactive white board/laptop/document camera
COMPENSATION:
The current hourly range is $17.00 to $19.00 per classroom contact hour based on years of experience/qualifications. Teachers will also be reimbursed at their regular hourly rate for mandatory in-services.
