We're Hiring: Children Coordinator
The Children’s Ministry Coordinator position is primarily one of Christian ministry and service. She/He shall be able to articulate her/his faith and demonstrate a desire or call to work in a setting of Christian ministry. Appropriate educational and life skills are necessary, and they must be integrated into the context of a successful and complete ministry experience.
Children’s Ministry Coordinator (CMC) is a part of the professional team of the Congregation. In planning and giving leadership to the overall Christian Education program, the CMC shall work in close collaboration with all members of the Congregation's staff, the pastors, and the CEC Committee. She/He shall receive direction from and be directly responsible to the Co-Pastor of Christian Education Ministry (CEM).
The CMC will create a safe and welcoming environment for children to grow in their faith in Jesus Christ.
CMC should be able to articulate their own faith and be actively seeking to grow in their own faith.
The CMC should support and teach Moravian beliefs, motto, and vision as articulated by Lititz Moravian Church and our denomination (www.moravian.org)
The CMC should have passion and energy for children with an understanding of child development and faith development.
The CMC should work towards creating an atmosphere where children feel they have a safe/brave space to share and be their authentic selves.
The CMC should build ongoing relationships with our children, and families to assess their spiritual needs and design programming to engage them and meet their needs, including reaching out to visitors with children to invite them and engage them in our ministries. The CMC, to build relationships with children, families, and volunteers, would need to be on campus during events and on Sundays.
It is important that the CMC bring new ideas and the organizational skills to facilitate the new ideas into action (including the ability to recruit and train volunteers).
It is preferrable the CMC have a degree in a course of study associated with Children. Life and work experience will be considered as well.
The CMC will have all clearances completed before hiring, this includes all Pennsylvania clearances and an FBI clearance. The individual holding the position of CMC must recognize that she/he is looked upon by the Congregation as a spiritual leader. Therefore, demeanor and conduct must be above reproach. Inappropriate behavior, improper conduct, gross misconduct, or unethical conduct may be cause for immediate dismissal.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Rooted Sunday School
A. Develop a written plan with the Co-Pastor in charge of Christian Education Ministry (CEM) all programming, including teacher recruitment, teacher supervision and evaluation, curriculum selection, teacher training, etc. Said plan would be presented and approved by the Christian Education Committee
B. Plan, coordinate and provide leadership for all special All-Sunday School assemblies, forums, and special mission projects. All plans for special events and projects must receive approval from CEC.
C. Participate in SS Class in coordination and teaching with current SS teachers.
D. Recruit and train volunteer leadership and teachers.
D. Submit attendance record reports and perform other administrative details such as attending weekly staff meetings, curriculum purchases and distribution.
2. Plan, coordinate and provide leadership in monthly social and missional events for which will create authentic connections with each other and family members
3. Vacation Bible School
A. In consultation with the Christian Education Committee, appoint and assist the VBS Coordinator and Planning Team with planning VBS, selecting the curriculum, recruiting the staff, developing the program, publicizing and implementing the program.
B. Lead the actual week of VBS.
4. Promote and coordinate participation in denominational children’s activities, I.e., Hope Center and Renewal Center programs for attendees from the congregation.
5. Lead occasional children’s chats during the 10:30 worship services
5. Christian Education Committee (CEC)
A. Collaborate with the Co-Pastor Charged with CEM in the planning of agendas for monthly meetings.
B. Attend the meetings of the CEC.
C. Co-Chair the Christian Education Committee Meetings with the Co-Pastor charged with CEM.
D. Supervise all special projects and forums planned with the CEC.
E. Articulate and promote the mission of the CEC through the Spire and church social media sources including the church website within congregational events, and in worship.
