Summary Job Description:
Supervises the daily activities of children. Assists foster parents with completing tasks related to children. Responsible for the safety and custody of children. The work requires dealing with children, which may have emotional/behavioral challenges and the employee is expected to handle all situations in a calm and effective manner. The Recruitment Specialist will perform various tasks including but not limited to obtaining factual information about the family situation/environment, directly assisting/supporting families (e.g., transporting to location, home visits, supervising children, implementation of goals, and participating in team conferences).
Principle Responsibilities:
- Instructs/supervises children in accordance with agency policy, regulations, and New York State Discipline Law.
- May transport children to appointments
- May be required to organize and supervise recreational opportunities.
- May assist children with hygiene.
- Work requires dealing with children who may have emotional/behavioral problems.
- Work requires the person to be a team player and work within the unit of a foster family.
- May model training techniques of MAPP and ABC within the family.
- May facilitate MAPP, ABC, and other trainings for foster parents.
Special qualifications:
- Ability to understand and follow laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the care and safety of children under care.
- Ability to keep records and make oral and written reports.
- Some knowledge of various methods of dealing with children’s behavior, family units, and NYS Policy on Discipline.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with foster families, children, caseworker, etc.
Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelor’s Degree and experience working with children is preferred.
Travel Requirements:
This position is located in Brooklyn with travel to other locations.
This is an Hourly position and will commensurate with experience: $17.50 - $21.97
