Staff Accountant

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you'll apply your accounting expertise to handle general ledger transactions, ensure technical accuracy, and contribute to the monthly and annual financial closing processes. Based in Lawrence, MA, and reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, with the flexibility for some remote work, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of Little Sprouts and its subsidiaries. By partnering with various teams, you'll help us continue providing exceptional early education services, supporting our growth, and ensuring compliance with GAAP standards. • Assist in the preparation, reviewing and analysis of the financial statements in a timely and accurate fashion on a monthly and annual basis in a fast paced environment with strict deadlines.
• Knowledge of financial statement preparation including profit & loss statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flows according to GAAP.
• Maintained prepaid expenses schedule and amortize expenses accurately over the relevant periods.
• Calculate and record monthly accruals for various expenses, ensuring compliance with the accounting standards and company policies.
• Participate in the annual audit, annual tax filing, and annual personal property tax filing processes.
• Participate in monthly flex analysis.
• Create reports and updates based on data analysis in Microsoft Dynamics.
• Assist with development, implementation and review of fiscal policies and memos.
• Assist in special projects, including but not limited to IT initiatives and process improvements to support the company's growth.
• Interact with management from within and outside of the accounting department to respond in an accurate and timely fashion to inquires related to the groups activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting. 
• 1-3 years or more of accounting knowledge or similar experience. 
• Knowledge of GAAP is required, and IFRS is a plus. 
• Above average system skills – preferred experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX 365, Paylocity or ADP, advanced Excel, Procare AR, and billing systems. 
• Ability to roll up sleeves and be proactive to obtain needed information.  
• Strong verbal communication skills are required to communicate issues and give senior management concise, thoughtful updates. 
• Good people, team building, and leadership skills. 
• Intermediate technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
