THE ROLE
The PR Specialist will provide support to the publicity team across Insomniac’s expansive portfolio of concerts, festivals and new business initiatives. This position will consist of both administrative tasks and impactful and proactive media outreach to increase Insomniac’s awareness in the news as a global lifestyle and entertainment company. The individual in this role will play a key role in all aspects of Insomniac’s festival-specific communications. This is not a remote position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead multiple publicity campaigns for 2023 festival season with ability to prioritize newsworthy milestones and moments eligible for pitching to secure national media placements.
Build target media lists and overall PR strategies with creative storylines and suggested media opportunities for festival campaigns
Liaise with marketing team and festival stakeholders to oversee Insomniac PR calendar and timeline of company announcements
Draft and edit a variety of different content to support communications and marketing efforts for press releases, festival recaps, news articles, interview talking points and other things as needed
Lead the media credentialing process for all events which includes vetting applications, approving, and denying all requests
Oversee press@insomniac.com inbox to maintain journalist relationships and facilitate incoming media inquiries
Manage post-festival media inquiries which includes distribution of photo selects and recap news
Administrative tasks will include daily press clip management and upkeep of media database and contact lists for all media types and global markets
Assist PR Manager in day-to-day coordination with outside PR agencies
Participate in team brainstorms for event strategy and planning, listen in on department meetings and conferences
Project-manage various other short-term assignments, as requested
Provide support at events on site as needed (i.e., managing media check-in and/or staffing the press lounge)
All other press related duties as requested
Manage PR internship role to oversee assignments and provide mentorship
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have at least 3 years of music/entertainment PR experience
Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with dance music journalists, entertainment insiders, and other media partners from a global scale
A successful history of pitching and securing coverage of client campaigns and events
Interest in philanthropic initiatives and social impact preferred
Strong writing skills across multiple mediums – press materials, pitches, internal communication, etc.
Familiarity with the ever-changing media landscape across dance music and on a broader, national scale
Must be able to work out of the Calabasas, CA office five days a week for eight hours each day
Must have deep understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and have working knowledge of Adobe Suite (Photoshop) and Google Docs (Sheets Docs)
Must be motivated with an “Everything is possible” attitude
Must be an active problem solver, instilled with a sense of urgency for projects large and small
Knowledge of dance music and Insomniac’s brands
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels and busy environments
May work in drastic temperature climates working on site at our events
Must be willing to travel to work during holidays, evening and weekend hours, as required, to meet deadlines

Hiring Salary Range: $65 ,000.00 - $ 75,000.00 USD

Insomniac takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees.
