JOB SUMMARY
This position provides leadership and resource management within a small department or branch to ensure efficient production, stability in changing environments, and that the department or branch serves the needs of its participants.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage, direct workflow and process transactions supporting business unit operations.
- Coordinate and manage all resources in department or branch to ensure that the personnel have the tools and information required to maximize performance.
- Assist next levels of management to ensure that branch is working within budget from a cost perspective.
- Ensure client service meets corporate objectives.
- Support business development efforts as required.
- Resolve complex client issues.
- Provide expert advice to both internal and external customers.
- Review entry summaries for consistency and accuracy.
- Lead, coach, mentor and motivate staff.
- Manage staffing decisions: recruitment, hiring, and terminations for the department or branch.
- Provide training for staff development.
- Assist management and Director with special projects as required.
- Liaise with Customs, clients, carriers, and other business partners.
- Identify and implement process improvement initiatives.
- Continually participate in employee development and performance management.
- Complete annual performance reviews and make salary recommendations.
- Stay apprised of changing Customs and regulatory requirements and disseminate information to staff and/or clients.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Fully conversant with company policies and procedures, all applicable customs laws, regulations, procedures, and industry practices.
- Full working knowledge of HTS with respect to general chapter notes, SPI rules, etc.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong PC skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to handle large volume of work.

WORK EXPERIENCE – MINIMUM REQUIRED
EDUCATION
CERTIFICATIONS DESCRIPTION
Working towards/or successful completion of the Certified Customs Specialists (CCS) designation with the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers (CSCB) or the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA) is a requirement, if not already obtained.
Successful completion of the CCS examination is a mandatory requirement for further advancement.
