Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Optometrist to join our team part time. As an Optometrist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services to patients of all ages. Your expertise in optical health, ophthalmology, and medical coding will be essential in diagnosing and treating various eye conditions. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient care and possess excellent communication skills.
Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity and detect any abnormalities or diseases
- Prescribe corrective lenses or other vision aids as necessary
- Diagnose and treat common eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration
- Perform specialized procedures including but not limited to corneal topography, retinal imaging, and visual field testing
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated patient care
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in optometry and incorporate new techniques into practice
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic health record systems such as Epic
- Adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines including HIPAA and aseptic technique protocols
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited optometry program
- Valid state license to practice optometry
- Strong knowledge of optical principles, anatomy, and physiology related to the eye
- Proficiency in medical coding for accurate billing and insurance claims processing
- Experience working with senior care patients is preferred
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical information to patients in a clear and concise manner
- Strong sales skills to effectively recommend eyewear options based on patient needs
