Description:The GPS Control Segment II (GCS II) Sustainment team is enabling our customer’s mission of delivering and sustaining reliable GPS capabilities to America's warfighters, allies and civil users; and we're looking for motivated self-driven leaders to join us.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a GCS II development team supporting both unclassified and classified projects.
Leadership:
This L-code position provides direction to subordinates based on general policies and management guidance. Work is reviewed for adequacy in meeting objectives. Interprets and executes policies and procedures that typically affect subordinate organizational units. This leader will be required to manage and assess the morale of their team. The individual will interpret LM Management policies, processes and procedures as well as GCS II processes.
Technical:
The successful candidate will be required to have a technical role. The L-coded responsibilities only account for approx. 30% of the position. The successful candidate must have a strong technical background in engineering services-oriented projects and must also have strong business management background and skills.
Personnel:
Management of personnel including efficient allocation of resources and resource dynamics (adds, losses, training).
The individual will be responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.
The individual will use Management tools and procedures plus tailored procedures developed specifically for the GCS II program. The individual will be required to use all standard Microsoft Office and domain specific engineering tools.
The individual will request support from higher level management in the areas of resource growth or reduction and resolution of Customer issues. The individual will request support on issues that affect the safety, morale, and smooth operation of the workplace.
The individual will make daily decisions on resource tasking and management reporting. The individual will report weekly and monthly to senior management on accomplishments, issues, and resolutions. The individual will develop resource tasks and strategies. These decisions and recommendations will be made with minimal management oversight.
Basic Qualifications:
The selected candidate must possess a high degree of ethics, strong core values and an optimistic outlook, strong leadership, teamwork, and customer relations skills, exceptional oral and written communication and formal presentation skills, the ability to work independently with initiative, creativity and innovation, and demonstrated program management skills.
Proven ability to lead a diverse team to meet GCS II program commitments.
Requires a current Top Secret Clearance.
Practical understanding of the engineering services business model.
Desired Skills:
Previous L code experience is desired.
Ability to forecast and manage program staffing.
Understanding of the GPS Control Segment and the GPS customer set is highly desired.
Understanding of Firm Fix Price contract execution is also desired.
