Description: This classification requires performance of pre-DD250 tasks associated with the assembly, disassembly, modification, repair, assembly checkout and movement of all types and configurations of new and fleet return missiles and associated missile components. Perform inspection and related functions involved in quality assurance and acceptance of Fleet Ballistic Missile systems, materials and surface support equipment.
Knowledge of computer skills to perform work.
Work with technical assistance and guidance, or work independently with complete procedures or written instruction after initial on-the-job instruction and guidance. Work with progressively less guidance and instruction as knowledge, skill, and experience in
classification increases.
Assist in and/or perform the assembly and disassembly operations involving such functions as connecting and mating of the motor, equipment section, and interstage
sections; removal and installation of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical components, assemblies and units.
Assist in and/or perform inspection of the assembly, disassembly, modification, repair, rework and testing of missile sections, sub-assemblies, complete systems and
subsystems; of the receipt, shipment, handling, testing, altering, repairing, reworking and packaging of components and hardware.
Stamp or otherwise approve acceptable parts, tests, etc., and prepare or process paperwork as required. Reject items found to be discrepant or unacceptable, and
determine reason for rejection as required; prepare necessary discrepancy documentation for disposition of such items.
Evaluate test data, assembly, refurbishment processes and procedures, recommend new methods, processes or procedures to improve quality assurance and quality
control. Perform a continuous monitoring of all production and test activities.
Assist in and/or perform the set up for and performance of tests such as Helium leak and motor pressurization. Assist in the repair or replacement of malfunctioning units, components or items revealed by tests.
Become proficient in operating all equipment required to position major vehicle components and support equipment as required to perform necessary operations.
Assist in and/or perform inspection functions for non-Production Partnership (P2) operations. Inspect documentation for proper completion. Perform blueprint review of support equipment being altered and hardware receipt inspections and other inspection activities as required.
Assist in and/or perform the handling and storage requirements of hazardous material.
Assist in and/or perform the set up and operation of various NDT equipment and perform associated work as required (SWFPAC ONLY).
Assist in and/or perform modifications and repairs to support equipment. Assist Missile Electronic Technicians in performing missile systems tests using Systems Acceptance Checkout Equipment (SACE) (SWFPAC ONLY).
Assist in repairing, fabricating, reworking, altering, modifying, maintenance and testing of surface support, handling equipment, and electrical continuity (SWFPAC ONLY).
Basic Qualifications:
Possess knowledge of electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, missile structures and assemblies and shop mathematics.
Possess general knowledge of inspection practices and procedures for acceptance of parts.
Ability to use all types of measuring and inspection tools as required to perform assigned duties.
Ability to work with hazardous material.
Ability to read and interpret Company and customer specifications, procedures and regulations pertaining to the assembly, testing, storage and shipping of complete
missiles or their related parts, assemblies and components as well as handling and storage equipment.
Possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to use general purpose hand tools.
Skilled in the use of computers and ability to learn new computer applications.
Ability to obtain and maintain basic certifications required to perform ordnance/explosive processing operations. Ability to obtain and maintain a respirator certification and
maintain certifications/qualifications and/or licenses to perform assigned duties.
*Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Level II Magnetic Particle Certification (i.e. National Aerospace Standard NAS410), or equivalent.
Desired Skills:
*Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Level II Liquid Penetrant Certification (i.e. National Aerospace Standard NAS410), or equivalent.
*Minimum of 18 months experience in aerospace assembly operations or other relevant experience.
*Intermediate experience with aerospace vehicle assembly, disassembly, and handling techniques
*Perform the set up and operation of various NDT equipment and perform associated work as required. Inspect parts and assemblies for defects by use of magnetic particle testing processes. Analyze by visual examination the iron oxide patterns produced to determine the nature and extent of defects or flaws.
*Ability to obtain and retain Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA&E) certification.
*Must possess a valid driver's license.
*Must be a US Citizen. Cannot be a dual citizen
*Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
*Familiarity with inspection practices and procedures; of operational test methods and of functional test equipment relating to missiles and their components, subsystems, major systems and their integration.
