Lockheed Martin Space in Littleton, CO has an immediate opening for a System Safety Engineer to help field a new missile defense system that the nation urgently needs. In this role, you will use your expertise to ensure that safety is crafted into hardware and software products and that controls are incorporated and remain effective while assuring compliance to safety requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in an engineering or related discipline. or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of experience required with a related Master's degree.
• Knowledge of System Safety Engineering processes as outlined in MIL-STD-882E with strong technical skills in performing hazard analyses, identifying safety requirements, developing fault trees, and recommending risk mitigation.
• Experience with engineering processes related to safety and risk management in an operations/ sustainment environment.
• US Citizenship required to start with the ability to acquire a Secret security clearance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Skills:
• Prior experience working with U.S. Army, US Navy, or other Department of Defense (DOD) customers.
• Familiarity or experience with missile systems, ordnance, and software.
• Understanding of incident investigations and root cause and corrective actions.
• Current Security Clearance.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Pay Rate:
In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $97,700 - $162,900 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
