Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE :
The Coordinator I, Public Safety Fleet assists the Fleet Manager in ensuring all LSC Police Department vehicles (cars, carts, segways, bikes) are properly maintained in order to meet the mission of the department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Facilitates daily operations of assigned area. Maintains current knowledge base of assigned area and acts as a point of contact as needed for department employees and external vendors
- Assists with maintaining records and tracking repairs / maintenance for all fleet vehicles
- Assists with coordinating maintenance / repairs calendars and schedules, helping to ensure the necessary number of vehicles are available for safe and efficient operations at all times
- Assists with ensuring vehicle users are completing daily inspections. Reports any issues to the Fleet Manager for follow-up
- Travels between campuses to assist Fleet Manager with monthly vehicle inspections
- Assists in arranging for and / or transporting vehicles between vendors and LSC locations
- Monitors and controls resources such as office supplies and equipment needed within the department. May submit requisitions and follow up with reconciliation documentation
- Takes part in special projects as needed
- Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
- Ability to drive extensively throughout the LSC System area
- Ability to follow safety precautions
- Ability to meet specific daily deadlines
- Skills in computer and database applications
- Ability to navigate software products designed to manager fleet maintenance and control
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
PHYSICAL ABILITIES :
The work requires some physical exertion, such as driving vehicles; long periods of standing and / or walking; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities;
or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS :
The work involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as classrooms, offices, meeting and training rooms, and libraries, or College-owned vehicles.
This requires use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals.
The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated
- Work involves some driving of LSC Public Safety vehicles
- Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Equipment used includes PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment, LSC Public Safety vehicles
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Associate degree and at least 2 years of related or customer service experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Applicant must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License with a driving record that meets the criteria established by the System
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Experience working with and / or coordinating a fleet of vehicles
Salary
Hiring salary range is $38,761 - $44,575
Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
