The Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders / College of Health Professions at LIU-Brooklyn is seeking applications for a full time Clinical Supervisor. The Clinical Supervisor in Speech Language Pathology assumes direct responsibility for supervising graduate student clinicians by providing individual and group services to clients at the Downtown Brooklyn Speech, Language & Hearing Clinic and satellite sites affiliated with the Program in Communication Sciences & Disorders.
Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Clinical Supervisor in Speech Language Pathology assumes direct responsibility for the clinical training and supervision of graduate student clinicians by providing individual and group-based diagnostic and treatment services to clients and patients at the Downtown Brooklyn Speech, Language & Hearing Clinic located on the LIU-Brooklyn campus.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
The Clinical Supervisor will play an integral role in the clinical training of CSD graduate students. The Clinical Supervisor will enable graduate students to progress the clinical aspects of classroom instruction into the all aspects of the clinical application skills required of the profession.
The Clinical Supervisor will work with clinic administrators, clinical educators and academic faculty within the department to develop and implement innovative clinical involvements that to provide unique training experiences to graduate students and ensure graduate training requirements are met for graduation and future licensure. Some administrative responsibilities and/or teaching may be required depending on the applicant’s past experience. The incumbent will also be required to perform additional duties that may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology, ASHA-certified
- At least 8-years of clinical experience post CF, with minimum 4- years supervising speech-language pathology graduate students in an academic or clinical setting
- At least 5-years clinical experience in the provision of Medical Speech-Language Pathology services, specifically speech, language, and swallowing assessment and treatment of adults
- Eligible for NY state license and licensed by starting date
- Must meet ASHA requirements for supervision (2 hours CEU)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Specialized knowledge related to documentation and assessment of student performance (ASHA knowledge and skills).
- Specialized experience with speech/language disorders impacting the adult population.
- Experience with Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing
- Research Experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish/Russian/Arabic

About the Downtown Brooklyn Speech, Language & Hearing Clinic:
The Downtown Brooklyn Speech, Language & Hearing Clinic at LIU-Brooklyn provides evaluation and treatment services for people of all ages with feeding, speech, language and/or hearing difficulties. We offer a range of diagnostic and therapeutic services to monolingual and bilingual (including Spanish, Russian, Yiddish) children, adolescents and adults with communication disorders. In addition, we offer specialized treatment services including feeding therapies, PROMPT, LVST-LOUD programs, Lively Letters, accent reduction and specialized group training for individuals who have had strokes, traumatic brain injuries and others specific communication needs.
The Downtown Brooklyn Speech, Language & Hearing Clinic is a teaching clinic. Our New York State licensed & ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) work with graduate level student clinicians in the clinic to provide high quality individualized and group services to a wide range of children and adults with communication impairments. With direct supervision, graduate students enrolled in the Master of Science Degree within the Communication Sciences & Disorders Program at LIU-Brooklyn train alongside highly experienced clinicians and PhD faculty while completing the requirements for future licensure.
