Who You Are:
We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing with a strong positive attitude toward customer service. This person will have a genuine interest in geriatric care and be able to motivate while maintaining relationship with staff and residents. The right candidate will always strive to do the best job possible, to be creative and to work towards accomplishing facility goals.
Position Summary:
Plans, organizes, develops, directs and evaluates the nursing service operation ensuring the highest degree of quality patient care. To direct the overall operation of the nursing department in accordance with current nursing and medical practices and procedures as well as applicable Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as directed by the facility to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care is maintained at all times. Associate must be able to work in a 24 hour operation. Will function as the licensed Administrator in the absence of the Healthcare Administrator.
Accountabilities:
- Directs the nursing services department, programs and activities ensuring the highest degree of patient care.
- Responsibilities include:
- Interviews, hires, orients, schedules, assigns work to, evaluates, and when necessary disciplines assigned staff members.
- Interacts with residents, families, or visitors to solve problems, maintains goodwill and promotes positive customer relations.
- Assist physicians in planning for the individual resident’s nursing care.
- Assures proper nursing documentation by regular audits.
- Participates on special projects or studies as required.
- Attends and participates in workshops, seminars and other programs to keep abreast of changes in the healthcare field.
- Monitors for continuous Quality Improvement, the nursing department procedures and operation on a regular basis to assure compliance with Federal and State rules and regulations, as well as, facility policies.
- Maintains an excellent working relationship with the medical profession and outside agencies, including governmental agencies or provide and authorize representation when unable to attend such meetings.
- Ensure that resident’s rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, including the right to file complaints are well established and maintained at all times.
- Will be on call as department policy.
- Demonstrates ability to evaluate performance and competency of staff, direct staff, empower staff, and coach problem solving skills.
- Communication: to be able to communicate clearly with staff, management and peers, especially in relation to business environment issues.

Qualifications
Qualifications
- Registered LVN with a current State of Texas license.
- Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, governmental agencies/personnel and the general public.
- Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc. that are necessary for providing quality resident care.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license, maintain automobile insurance coverage and have access to an automobile.
- Must be able to push a minimum of 200 lbs and be able to push such weight a minimum distance of 200 ft.
