Job Title: Operating Technician I, Ultrasonic
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Operating Technician I, Ultrasonic is responsible for assisting the Senior Inspection Technician with operating, maintaining, and repairing portable walking sticks with A-Scan and B-Scan capabilities. Test rails in crossovers or certify relay rails in yard locations. Perform hand testing on suspects identified by the portable unit. Create reports for customers.
New Hire Training Incentive: $1000 at 90 days & $1500 at 6 months (dependent on job performance)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Ability to lead a comprehensive and appropriate job briefing during operations shifts, maintenance shifts, and while conducting maintenance tasks
- Consistently follows safe work processes, procedures, and rules
- Understands on-track safety and can explain specifics when asked
- Ability to locate all emergency equipment and demonstrate correct operation
Customer Engaged
- Generate reports and create rail indications as required by the customer
- Communicate daily with customers about schedule, locations, and production rate
- Participate in job briefings and arrive at job locations in a timely manner
Functional & Technical Skills
- Operate portable UT walking stick inspection units, familiarity with A Scans and B Scans
- Ability to work with Microsoft Word and Excel file formats as well as use Microsoft Outlook email systems
- Ability to download and upload daily reports, suspect lists, verification lists, and other necessary files.
- Responsible for maintenance of all service vehicles and equipment

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Internal: 3 Months Experience working with Loram equipment or equivalent in a 24/7 environment; Some assignments require Excavator experience. Meet all relevant or applicable pre-qualifications as noted in the general description for this role and Loram’s career development matrix.
External: 2 Years Demonstrated technical skills such as mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and machine operations. 2 Years Demonstrated ability to learn communicate verbally and in writing and learn best practices
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Able to effectively oral and written communication, good organizational skills, and good problem solver.
License/Certifications: Maintain Railroad Certifications, CPR/First Aid, valid Driver’s License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: 3 years’ operating equipment in railroad environment
License/Certifications: Obtain a level 1 Ultrasonic Operator Status. Ability train over time to become a Level 2 Ultrasonic Operator Status
