What You Will Do

Come be a part of the Pit Technologies Division Office (PT-DO) as an Operations Support Specialist. PT-DO is seeking an Operations Support Specialist to provide professional management of key operational projects as well as providing broader professional activities support. The selected candidate will lead and execute a broad scope of mission assurance activities in support of the ALDWP directorate pit manufacturing mission.

This role will work closely with the Deputy Division Leader responsible for hiring and retaining the next generation of employees working in the Nation's Plutonium Center of Excellence at TA-55. This role will also work closely with the PT Division SOM assisting with data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

To be most successful in this role, you will need to be an energetic, customer-focused individual, capable of providing organized, concise project and program support with excellent communication skills, who is capable of quickly changing focus, acting independently, and is comfortable with a broadly defined scope of work.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Ability to Manage Broad, Complex Projects/Initiatives:

Provide advanced input to and oversee various administrative functions in conjunction with or in support of operational program compliance. Participates in or leads special/emergent projects. Familiarity and understanding of LANL business systems and reporting tools.

Leadership, Communication, and Interpersonal Skills:

Leads communication and coordination effectively with team-members, supervisors, and other involved organizations to ensure priorities are understood by the team, problems are identified and have plans for resolution, and that the deliverables are relevant to the higher-level scope. Fosters a mutually respectful and inclusive work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.

Impact, Decision Making and Problem Solving:

Works on unusually significant, unique or complex issues, provides solutions that are highly creative and where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Has impact on success of future concepts, products or technologies.

Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 8 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be expected.

Advanced knowledge of LANL organizational structure, policies, and procedures.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

Provides high-level customer service to internal and external customers while overseeing proper engagement with collaborative and support entities to ensure end-to-end delivery of tasks.

DOE Q clearance

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q(Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
