Carrier Sales Representative
The Carrier Sales Representative is responsible for booking freight and developing and managing carrier relationships. This position will focus on matching freight with approved carriers, negotiating rates and overseeing the shipment.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and expand your carrier book of business by forming enduring bonds with carriers based on regular, sincere, and open contact.
- Negotiate Carrier rates
- Resolve carrier issues
- Develop new and grow existing carrier relationships
- Strategically match available carrier partner equipment to customer ensuring every available load is covered for the day and daily outbound calling goal is met.
- Choose the most appropriate carrier and pay the right amount for each cargo that is moved, always keeping the company's best interests in mind.
- Continually build market knowledge to understand rates through proactively learning about the industry and staying current on market trends (i.e., reading industry publications).
- Meet specific KPIs- Volume, Margin, and POD collection.
- Coordinating and tracking shipments
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Highly collaborative with the ability to work effectively with all departments.
- Additional duties and projects as assigned.
Experience:
- Experience in carrier sales, logistics, or a related field
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Knowledge of transportation modes
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
