Job Description:
The Parking Guard issues parking citations in accordance with Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) rules and regulations, and implements parking mitigation techniques to control and maintain viable parking on campus.
Responsibilities
40% Issues parking citations by observing parking areas, campus roadways and other campus property. Participates in the set up, take down and storage of parking and traffic control devices for normal activities and events. Operates a computerized hand held device to perform daily job responsibilities.
30% Participates in the booting, impounding and towing of vehicles. Directs vehicles on campus to insure safety for vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Maintains a secure position in order to control, limit or restrict access to parking areas or roadways during normal operations, and directs, controls, limits or restricts traffic flow on campus and parking areas for events.
30% Participates in customer relations related to parking ticket inquiries, ticket appeals, towing appeals, campus special events and campus information. Provides motor vehicle assistance including jump starts. Performs user maintenance checks and documents minor repairs to departmental vehicles. Performs various related work as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
- No experience or training is required
- No test score required
Necessary Special Qualifications
- Must have attained eighteenth birthday at time of appointment.
- May be required to possess a valid Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment.
- An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
Special or Physical Qualifications
- Ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time in outdoor and indoor conditions.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
- Ability to operate 2-way radio and handheld computer.
- This position requires extensive overtime to be worked, as needed. Must be able to work night and weekend shifts.
- Per PS-18 this position is deemed essential to campus operations and will be required to report to or remain on campus during times of emergency or closure. Due to the nature of the position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67.
