Lower Columbia College is in search of an innovative and enthusiastic tenure track Nutrition & Health Instructor who is dedicated to working collaboratively with faculty and staff throughout the campus community. We are seeking an educator who is invested in student success within the community college setting. As full-time faculty, this position will also advise students, participate in curriculum and program development, participate in professional development, engage in assessment activities, attend faculty and committee meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.

The Instructor position is 173 contract days (fall, winter, spring). The salary range is $55,261 to $77,510 based on education and experience. Please note the salary range will be adjusted for the 2022-2023 year to reflect the legislatively funded cost-of-living increase. This position is hybrid and requires some in-person on campus presence. The Nutrition & Health Instructor reports to the Dean of Instructional Programs.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities
Among other duties, the Instructor has the opportunity to:
- Impart expertise, enthusiasm, and creativity in the instruction of nutrition and health to a diverse student population with various learning styles and abilities.
- Effectively prepare and present course content, drawing upon disciplinary knowledge, skills, theories, issues, research, and applications to design engaging and effective learning experiences.
- Analyze course assessments, evaluations and data and engage in continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate multicultural competence, including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations, and create an educational environment that affirms commitment to equity and diversity.
- Provide quality instruction in various settings (classroom, online) adapting to a variety of teaching/learning situations while maintaining an effective learning environment.
- Competently incorporate instructional technologies in course delivery.
- Seek and promote opportunities for student learning and critical thinking.
- Assess, evaluate and document student learning and achievement of course outcomes.
- Provide individualized support to promote student success.
- Provide verbal and written feedback to students in a timely manner, including the grading of assignments.
- Maintain currency of course content and materials, including course syllabi.
- Provide academic and career advising to students.
- Establish and maintain office hours; be available for student consultation.
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
- Perform ongoing student, program and college assessment activities, including analysis of course assessments, evaluations, and data to engage in continuous improvement to enhance student success, retention, and completion

Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Nutrition or related field of study
- Professional practice/work-experience in nutrition/health or closely related field
- Experience teaching adults at the college level
- Experience using technology to enhance work (i.e. MS Office Suite or related programs, Google and video conferencing platforms)
- Exceptional communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with a diverse population.
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
- Expertise using a Learning Management System such as Canvas and using technology specifically to enhance student learning
