What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pump Technician position at Lufkin Industries?
JOB SUMMARY:
Repair and build pumps to Lufkin and customer specifications, using safe and efficient methods and appropriate tools.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Test and assemble cleaned pump and tubing anchor parts, using hand tools, wrenches and other equipment.
- Visually check barrel, plunger, valve cages, balls, seats, and other parts to ensure accuracy.
- Operate ball and seat tester, vacuum tester, air micrometer, and other testing equipment as required.
- Assess condition of all parts to determine whether they can be re-used, placing re-usable parts in the appropriate storage area.
- Clean work area, machines, tools and equipment as needed.
- Load and unload sucker rods
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education and Training: High School education or equivalent or as deemed sufficient by management
- Technical Requirements: Basic mechanical aptitude. Ability to operate necessary equipment. Basic math skills, including fractions. Basic knowledge of oil and gas industry.
- Ability to lift 55 lbs unassisted.
- Experience: At least one year work experience, or as deemed sufficient by management
