What to Expect:
As a growing company, Lukaven anticipates the hire for the Lead Carpenter role to be a key company member for many years to come, with great upward mobility potential.
The Lead Carpenter position oversees and engages in the finish phase of both multifamily and single-family home projects. They’re expected to supervise and manage the construction site during the finish phase, as well as work on all carpentry-related items. The construction manager typically spends 80% of their time on site and the remaining 20% of their time will be spent between working from home/the office and ancillary tasks.
Typical work days start at 8 am and end at 5pm (8-9 hours) on weekdays, with the majority of site supervision occurring from 8-10 am and 3-5 pm, when other trades are setting up or leaving. Some days are non-stop, while others are fairly slow - it’s heavily dependent on the phase of construction. Occasionally, evening and Saturday (half day) work is required to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the job sites.
The Lead Carpenter is a role expected to move into a construction manager or construction supervisor position overtime, gradually decreasing the time spent doing physical work and focusing more on overseeing other workers and projects.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage day to day activities on site at residential construction projects during the finish phase of construction - from drywall hanging until close out.
- Complete finish carpentry scopes of work, including installing trim and millwork, hanging cabinets, finishing stairs, installing closets and hardware, hanging mirrors, and occasionally installing decks.
- Receive and manage deliveries of procured material to subcontractors on time
- Orient new subcontractors and visitors to site
- Complete accurate and on-time completion of all QA/QC documentation and punch-list items
- Verify installed conditions are compliant with project specification and resolve non-compliant items
- Attends weekly project meetings with stakeholders to address their concerns and questions
- Oversees site start up and commissioning
- Assemble all required project turn over documentation for project close out.
- Support project managers in material take-offs
- Contribute to design reviews, post-project lesson review, cost analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Clean up job sites as needed
- Pick up additional materials for subcontractors as needed
- Manage warranty and punch list items.
What You’ll Bring:
- Required: 2 years of carpentry experience in a hands-on role installing trim and millwork, stairs, closets, hardware, and other finish items.
- Preferred: Trades school experience.
- High school diploma require
- Strong aptitude to learn quickly and embrace new and creative ways to solve problems.
- Meticulous planning, organization, and prioritization skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written, to internal and external stakeholders
- Good understanding of materials used in finish carpentry.
- Self-starter who is results oriented, resourceful, innovative, intellectually curious and takes initiative
- Have a joyful approach to work and life, a sense of humor highly recommended
- Comfortable with technology, including Google drive, Google Sheets, Google Documents, Smartsheets, and more
- Access to a vehicle
- Preferred: Personal tools to begin working with. As time progresses, Lukaven will purchase new tools.
- Physical Requirements
- Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of job sites in all types of weather.
- Must be able to lift up to 80lbs at one time.
- Required to travel to worksites and projects as needed.
- Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
