Lumina Solar is looking for a Solar Engineer/Surveyor to join our team. We're looking for people with solar engineering skills, who are passionate about applying these skills to provide reliable solutions and satisfy our customers. The Engineer/Surveyor is responsible to travel to the project location measuring the roof, collecting structural and electrical systems information posy sale. They will thoroughly document roof measurements with obstructions, along with all necessary electrical system information. The Engineer/Surveyor will produce preliminary drawings of the Sales design incorporating the information gathered from the survey. They will then pass these preliminary designs to the Senior Engineer for further production. You will report to the Senior Manager of Internal Commercial Operations
In this role, you'll get to:
- Coordinate & interface with sales team and customer to ensure a timely and professional survey
- Measure & photograph roof dimensions and roof-top obstructions
- Measure & photograph roof rafters and other framing elements
- Examine, photograph and understand existing electrical systems & equipment
- Perform drone surveys
- Preliminary commercial solar system design including but not limited to:
- Determine conduit runs
- Determine equipment placement
- Determine an interconnection plan
- Review plans for accuracy
- Perform other tasks & duties as required
On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
Comfort working with electrical systems (i.e. removing covers from electrical panels)
Comfort entering attics and/or confined spaces
A valid driver’s license
Ability to work independently
Strong to firm understanding of commercial PV system design
Ability to use Aurora PV design tool
Ability to use CAD to draft drawing sets
Proficiency in utilizing shading/performance modeling software
Must have the ability to climb ladders and navigate roof-tops, and be unafraid of heights
Must be able to lift 75lbs
Must be able to operate basic hand tools
Must be able to sit or stand for 8-10hr day
It's great, but not essential, if you have:
- Be in possession or have ability to quickly obtain FAA part 107 drone license
- Knowledge of PV systems, codes, and mode of operation preferred
- OSHA knowledge and certification highly preferred
- Ability to navigate Salesforce preferred, but not required
- Knowledge of NEC especially 690 and 705 preferred, but not required
