Luna Technologies is looking for its first-ever full-time marketing manager to support our small (15 employees) but fast-growing cannabis extraction equipment manufacturing business in Portland, Oregon.
The ideal candidate is strategic, personable, organized, self-driven, and able to prioritize day-to-day, week-to-week, month-to-month, etc. This person will help lead and manage the entire Luna Technologies marketing program, seamlessly juggling a wide variety of marketing campaigns and programs across a number of channels, including owned channels (social media, blog, website, webinars), earned channels (PR, IR, and influencer relations), and paid (digital and traditional), including overseeing Luna’s event and trade show programming.
The ability to multi-task and switch from one objective to the next is key, while also being able to serve as the steward for the Luna Technologies brand. As such, they should also have excellent communication and creative skills, with experience working with marketing consultants and agency partners to bring projects to life.
Cannabis experience is a plus, but not required, but candidates should have a desire to become an expert in this fast-growing and evolving industry. The right candidate will bring past work experience to Luna and the cannabis industry with an eye on making and building connections in the industry; on being a representative of the company at industry events; and will have curiosity about the companies and individuals pushing the industry across manufacturing, retail, investment, and media.
Objectives of this Role
- Define, design, and drive Luna Tech’s brand positioning and strategy in the cannabis industry with the help of the internal sales, executives, and agency teams.
- Analyze customer insights, industry trends, market analysis, and marketing best practices to build successful marketing programs.
- Develop marketing plans with specific objectives across different channels and segments with the help of team and agencies.
- Grow Luna’s presence, engagement, relevance, and responsiveness across
- Owned media (social media channels, website, and blog)
- Earned media (PR and influencer relations)
- Paid media (digital, OOH, and media)
- Create, maintain, and conduct analytics reporting across multiple platforms and extract key insights for future campaign development and go-to-market strategies, complete with formal proposals and recommendations on tactics.
- Oversee and manage Luna’s marketing agency relationships, setting the course and plan to accomplish marketing goals and objectives.
- Identify and maximize the impact of events, from booths at trade shows and conventions to large-scale, annual events.
- Work closely with the sales team and executive leadership to identify opportunities and to inform the overall marketing programs and messaging.
Responsibilities
- Perform fundamental marketing tasks in association with agency/contract marketing partners, such as developing and editing high-quality media materials (e.g., press releases, blog publications, social media posts, event deliverables).
- Manage social media platforms on a daily basis from curating content to engaging with audiences.
- Working in partnership with agency partners, develop creative briefs and guide creative direction to meet objectives for all advertising and public-facing communications, including print, digital, and video assets.
- Conceptualize and execute multi-channel campaigns across the prospect and customer lifecycle, ensuring the alignment of communications and messaging across all channels.
- Manage content and updates for customer and internal touchpoints, establish budget guidelines, participate in events, document business processes, and provide additional sales support.
- Gather customer and market insights to inform outreach strategies, increase customer conversions, and generate more qualified leads.
- Identify effectiveness and impact of current marketing initiatives with tracking and analysis, and optimize accordingly.
- Present ideas and final deliverables to internal and external teams, and communicate with senior leaders about marketing programs, strategies, and budgets.
- Assist with setting up and managing booth activations at trade shows and conventions around North America (~4-6 per year).
Work environment
- Work typically takes place in an office environment and occasionally at marketing or industry events.
- Potential to work remotely/at home on a part-time basis, with the remainder in the office or during company travel.
- Some travel may be required (10-20%)
- Occasional nights/weekends may be required.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in PR, marketing, communications, business administration, or related field.
- 5 years of experience primarily within a marketing role.
- Must have a valid U.S.-issued driver’s license.
- Candidate must be able to travel up to 20% domestically with potential (limited) international travel.
- Must be authorized to work in the US without employer sponsorship. Luna Technologies does not provide U.S. work authorization sponsorship for this position. OPT and CPT visa holders are not eligible for employment if they will need work authorization sponsorship at any time in the future.
