Position Summary:
  • The Business Services & Outreach Coordinator ensures timely and effective connection with employers seeking to hire refugees or other eligible populations receiving services from LFS. This individual conducts outreach to employers and community members to expand the network of employers and to inform potential participants about services available to them.
Job Duties:
  • Conduct outreach through all possible avenues, including public speaking and networking events, referrals, partner hiring events, job fairs, cold calls, etc.
  • Identify employer and employee needs to inform placement efforts and advocate on behalf of qualified applicants.
  • Support employers as they seek to better understand refugee resettlement services.
  • Collaborate with internal staff to understand a client’s skills/ goals to assure quality placements.
  • Provide timely information regarding employment opportunities to internal team members.
  • Represent LFS at various employment events and/or relevant committee meetings.
  • Support LFS efforts to expand the network of employers in Lincoln and Western Nebraska.
  • Attend local hiring events hosted by local businesses or community partners.
  • Work and coordinate with staff to maintain positive relationships with partner organizations.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful demeanor during all contact with staff and the public.
  • Coordinate efforts to reach potential program participants.
  • Network on behalf of program participants and recruit career connectors who can assist refugee job seekers in their career development.
  • Attend and participate in various meetings for supervision, team building, and program planning.
  • Participate in regular supervision sessions to discuss strategy and improve where needed.
  • Engage regional or national stakeholders to improve knowledge across a network of providers.
  • Provide clients or team members with soft skills training as requested by the management.
  • Maintain and continually update employer database records.
  • Track trends in local job markets, including hiring, job retention, etc.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and independent problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in interviewing and employment counseling preferred.
  • Knowledge of the local job market and workforce system preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of liability insurance, and ability to drive for organization business
  • Regular and predictable attendance, and promptness for work.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma / GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • One year of experience in refugee employment services is preferred.
  • Case management and/or non-profit experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience or ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Bilingual in English and another language preferred (desired languages mirror the languages spoken by our client populations, including but not limited to Spanish, Karen, Burmese, Somali, Arabic, Russian, etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and ability to drive personal vehicle for agency business.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Hybrid work environment (in office and remote).
  • Laptop and company-issued cell phone.
  • Travel to various office locations to support client services, as needed and as applicable by region.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends to meet client needs (as directed).
