Reports to: Middle School Dean of Students
Position Description: The Middle School Supervisor acts as support staff to the Dean. They provide essential logistical support to Lycée students and staff and supervise students who are learning and studying on campus.
General Responsibilities:

Title: MIDDLE SCHOOL SUPERVISOR
Reports to: Middle School Dean of Students
Position Description: The Middle School Supervisor acts as support staff to the Dean. They provide essential logistical support to Lycée students and staff and supervise students who are learning and studying on campus.
General Responsibilities:
- Be an active presence throughout the school day, particularly during less structured times (consultation, schedule gaps, lunches, etc.). Remain present and visible to over 150 middle school students during the day, especially in the morning at 8:00 to welcome them and at the end of the school day (3:40pm or 4:30pm)..
- Track student absences, tardiness, or other Code of Conduct infractions in collaboration with the Middle School Dean, and take action if necessary according to the student Handbook.
- Inform the Middle School Dean of Students of disciplinary situations involving students.
- Help the Dean create and maintain electronic and paper student files (attendance, discipline, etc.). Ensure a consistent recording of students’ infractions.
- Supervise daily recess periods (morning/afternoon recesses and lunch recesses), welcome students during the first period, and dismiss them each day.
- Supervises common hour, study halls, retake exams, testing center and students in the library during free periods if needed.
- Help the MS Dean of Students to manage the outdoor student spaces, as well as classrooms, corridors, multipurpose room, lounges, bathrooms, courtyard, and cafeteria.
- Respond promptly to inquiries from students, teachers, and staff members via email, phone and in-person interactions.
- Attend administrative meetings when necessary.
- Other related tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the MS Dean of students as needed.
With Students:
- Establish a student culture that develops the students’ sense of responsibilities, their cultural awareness, and the spirit of the school.
- Ensure student safety and well-being through frequent visibility on the middle school floor (lounges, hallway) and throughout school facilities (courtyard).
- Listen to the students with a sympathetic ear and establish a constructive dialogue when needed. Prevent and handle conflicts in an educative way.
- Share their knowledge about the students’ situation with the Dean of Students.
- Ensure students follow all health and safety guidelines, including mask wearing and social distancing.
- Attend events throughout the year as needed ( Homecoming Dance, Integration Camp, Movie nights, etc.)
- Respect confidentiality with student information.
With Faculty:
- Work with the Dean to arrange substitution or supervision of classes when faculty have unplanned absences
- Work closely with Student Life Coordinator, SSD, & Librarian
- Supervise classes whenever needed, for example when a teacher is absent
- MS Supervisor must also work closely with teachers and supervisors on duty to ensure the proper procedures are being followed. Inform MS Dean of any issues.
Requirements
- The ideal candidate is a flexible, organized, and independent team player.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Prior experience working in a school environment is preferred.
- Fluent in English, with knowledge and understanding of the French language and culture a plus.
- Computer skills necessary
