Specifications
Lycée Français is looking for qualified English-speaking Summer School teachers for grades 3-7. Our summer school program will include both Math and English Language Arts (ELA) teachers. Each teacher hired will be responsible for teaching a grade level band and will teach two different groups of students each day in either Math or ELA. Summer School professional development will be held on 6/9/22 and 6/10/22 from 8-4 and Summer School will be held from 6/13-7/1. Tentative times for summer school are from 7:45AM-12:15PM with a 2 hour assessment and data planning period on Thursday afternoons. Curriculum guidance will be provided as well as resources for hands-on learning. Applicants must be available for both professional development days as well as all dates of summer school.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging lessons that follow rigorous, standards-aligned Louisiana curriculum provided by the school
- Providing instruction to students in either Math or ELA in one or two grade levels
- Build a warm and inclusive classroom environment, implementing the practices of restorative justice and trauma-informed instruction. LFNO is a PBIS school.
- Working with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts that were presented in the lesson plan
- Taking accurate attendance
- Use formal and informal assessment data to drive instruction and ensure student mastery of standards; maintain accurate and current grades
- Thrive while collaborating and receiving feedback from colleagues and stakeholders
- Accept ultimate responsibility for the academic progress of students, and work actively to overcome challenges
- Assisting with arrival and dismissal of students
- Assessing student progress, tracking the data, and providing the necessary Tier 1 interventions including small group in individual reteach, relearn, and reassessment
- Perform other job related functions as may be assigned, be punctual, and review/follow all Staff Handbook policies and procedures.
- Please note, we are a French school, but these classes will be conducted in English
Staff collaboration and reporting relationships
- Summer School teachers report directly to the Summer School Coordinator.
- Summer School Teachers collaboratively analyze academic data and deliver instruction in order to close gaps in students’ academic performance

Job Compensation and Commitment
- Compensation: $35 per hour
- Dates/Hours: June 13th-July 1st, tentative hours: 7:45am-12:15pm Monday through Friday with a 2 hour assessment and data planning period on Thursday afternoons.
- Professional Development prior to the beginning of Summer School: June 9th and 10th from 8am-4pm
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and Teaching Certification
- The ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, engaged, and academically challenged.
- Teaching experience in English and/or social studies.
- Passion for teaching students in underserved areas and commitment to closing the “opportunity” gap.
- Strong collaboration, self-awareness, and teamwork skills.
- Desire to set and achieve goals, and work to improve systems as part of a “growing” school.
- Growth mindset and ability to use feedback and data to improve practice.
Preferred:
- Louisiana teaching certification
- Three or more years teaching experience
- Experience in differentiating instruction, and supporting students with learning challenges
- Experience teaching in urban or multicultural areas
- Master’s Degree in related field
- Highly effective rating in latest COMPASS observations
- Familiarity with the Louisiana Acceleration series
