SUMMARY
This position is responsible for outside selling of AML's barge transportation and logistics services to existing and prospective business with emphasis on revenue and market share growth by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Responsible for developing and managing new and existing accounts within a dynamic territory or industry.
* Grow revenue and market share within territory to achieve corporate sales goals.
* Travel throughout assigned territory to introduce and sell services to current and potential customers.
* Build customer relationships and foster company image through customer visits.
* Schedule and maintain weekly customer sales activities and events within assigned territory.
* Compile lists of prospective customers and leads based on information through cold calling using trade publications, directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites and other sources.
* Qualify and analyze customer data to develop strategies to produce maximum profitable revenue and margin to meet required sales goals.
* Work with Pricing and Accounting departments quote prices and credit terms in preparation & presentation of sales contracts.
* Attend and contribute to weekly sales departmental meetings.
* Coordinate and confer with Sales Manager and other personnel to achieve sales goals.
* Maintain required sales information and generate reports weekly through use of company automation tools.
* Be involved in the community. Regularly attend local chamber & rotary meetings and networking events to seek board level participation. Be educated on Alaska current events, politics, competition, & business opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four year College or University or 3 to 5 years related experience in sales or transportation or equivalent combination of education and experience. High School/GED diploma required.
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret tariffs, general business periodicals, professional journals and manuals, technical or operational procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to calculate and apply concepts such as dimensional weight, fractions, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
* Valid driver's license is required. Identification or passport valid for travel required.
