Summary Description
Operates the automatic and semi-automatic machines and related equipment in a continuous processing of salt from an underground mine. Follows process specifications or instructions of operations supervisor. Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities to supervisor. Makes minor adjustments and repairs to equipment. Ensures that the machinery and safety equipment are in good working order. May operate forklift, pay loader, package loader and bag machine. Fills in for other positions when necessary. Performs general housekeeping in all areas of the operation. Must be task trained on all equipment or machinery used in daily work duties.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Performs, under minimum supervision, tasks of substantial variety or complexity which require knowledge of the conveyor systems, materials, tools, machines, and equipment relative to salt mining.
- Load the bulk products and quantity into inventory warehouse.
- Ensures material is packed and moving onto the pallets.
- Determine weight of loads to ensure a safe delivery of product.
- Performs pre-inspection of machinery, storage equipment and all moving mechanical parts.
- Inspect finished product loads and ensure required specifications are met.
- Adhere to safety policies and health regulations.
- Communicates with management any situation that may affect safety of any employee or other issues that affect production or quality of product.
- Inspect and perform daily routine housekeeping as necessary to ensure a clean and safe work area.
- Must be familiar with all surface job functions to fill in when necessary.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

Education/Experience: |
· Experience with repair and maintenance of machinery with moving mechanical parts. Experience with loading weight requirements and packaging. |

Skills: |
· Ability to use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, grease gun, sewing machine, forklift and pay loader. Basic math skills and ability to read measuring instruments. |

Knowledge: |
· Operation of mining equipment and engine maintenance. HAZCOM |
|
Licenses: |
· Forklift certification, pay loader certification |
|
Special Requirements: |
· Must pass pre-employment physical. · CPR Certificate |
