WAGES AND BENEFITS

Schedule
This is a hybrid position that requires traveling to member locations, attending virtual member meetings and working onsite at member locations from time to time. This position regularly works during normal business hours but may include occasional evening and/or weekend hours. This position will have a caseload of up to 3 organizations to support as the assigned HR Partner for each organization after an incubation period of peer to peer on the job shadowing.
A Typical Day in the Life…
After the job shadowing period, a typical day as MACC’s HR Generalist II provides an opportunity to provide in-scope services to nonprofit member organizations of MACC. Our members are supported by the full service HR Team of professionals including HR Consultants, Coordinators, Payroll and Benefit team members. Responsibilities will include the following:
- Developing, planning, and scheduling materials for the delivery of projects such as annual performance appraisal/merit increase cycle, annual administration of employee engagements surveys, harassment awareness and prevention training, the creation of job descriptions, and reviewing job postings and offer letters.
- Researching and applying agency employee handbooks and HR best practices to support Consultants in providing employee advocacy to resolve any cross-functional HR service delivery issues for managers and employees.
- Supporting managers, as needed, on a range of topics including talent management, employee relations, and performance management.
- Providing progressive discipline coaching to managers in specific employee relations situations, including reviewing warning memos and performance improvement plans by researching personnel files for past actions, ensuring compliance with agency handbook/practices, and researching other samples addressing similar issues.
- Managing the disciplinary process and HR investigation of alleged misconduct by scheduling meetings, documenting meeting notes, researching best practices, and providing observations and input.
- Coaching managers when reviewing and updating job descriptions and job postings, including providing guidance and making recommendations.
- Supporting various other projects and initiatives of the HR Services team that build capacity and/or benefit all HR member agencies.
- Serving as back up support for conducting virtual new employee orientation.
- Supporting the staffing function which may include: administration of background checks, verifying completion of new-hire documentation, verifying I-9 documentation and maintaining I-9 records, onboarding employees to HRIS, understanding filing structure of personnel files, and drafting offer letters or job postings for HR Partners.
- Supporting other HR roles as needed such as supporting or coordinating employee leaves of absences, timecard/paid time off issues, assisting staff with our HRIS, etc.
Who You Are
- You hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or have demonstrably equivalent knowledge gained through alternative courses of study and experience.
- You have a minimum of two years of work experience in a Human Resources role.
- You have previous experience in an HR role consulting supervisors regarding employee relations, or you have experience acting in a supervisory role (in any industry).
- It is preferable that you have previous experience working in a nonprofit setting.
- PHR or SHRM-CP professional certification is a plus. MACC supports employees in receiving and maintaining professional certifications.
- You have demonstrable skills displaying diplomatic assertiveness when working with leaders.
- You demonstrate a working understanding of Human Resource principles, practices, and procedures.
- You are flexible and able to adapt to quickly changing circumstances and responsibilities.
- You demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills displayed through strong listening, writing, and speaking abilities.
- You are proficient in Microsoft suite software, internet resources, and data management software.
- You are a self-motivated, detailed-oriented individual with a strong ability to effectively prioritize.
- You possess strong problem-solving and business acumen skills.
- You have the ability to establish, maintain, and grow healthy working relationships with internal and external partners in the course of work.
- You have the ability to work independently on a broad variety of projects.
- You have the ability to travel to member sites across the Twin Cities Metro area.

- You have a valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet MACC’s driving record requirements.
