Job Overview:
The Assistant Planner supports the Planning team in driving company sales, margin, turn, and growth within an assigned area of business. In this role, you will provide operational support to the Planners as well as develop skills in relevant merchandising systems to help execute and drive the business. The Assistant Planner is self-motivated, has strong analytical skills, is able to independently manage workload and priorities, can communicate clearly, and is proactive in identifying key business risks and opportunities.
Essential Functions:
- Leverage merchandise reporting to analyze sales and stock performance by location for department / class / vendor
- Understand end-to-end allocation process and assume responsibility for a portion of the Planner's total allocation business and provide analytics to Planner to support channel and location needs
- Gain thorough understanding of FOREsight system and replenishment management as it relates to the department financial sales, average stock, and turn plan
- Participate and assist the Planner in the creation and evaluation of the merchandise plan and pre-market analysis
- Cultivate relationships and partner with cross-functional teams, including replenishment, sizing, and fulfillment in order to support business unit strategy
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university
- Practices open and continuous communication, values keeping others informed, effectively presenting information in a clear, concise manner
- Excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels
- Excel functions (i.e. v-lookups, pivot tables, sumifs), reporting tools, and retail math
- Ability to think creatively, strategically and technically
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and Company needs
