POSITION PURPOSE
Be a part of Madison Gas and Electric Company's (MGE) future as we work to utilize new technology and collaborate across MGE to optimize work in the field. Under general supervision, this role will provide technical expertise to help plan, schedule, and provide metrics on short- and long-cycle field work for operational departments. The Scheduling Analyst will leverage business applications, such as C2M and KloudGin, and reporting tools to ensure work is completed efficiently and effectively.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyzes the procedures and systems used in operational departments with emphasis on work scheduling, recommending improvements, and assuring implementation of system solutions to ensure the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) and MGE requirements are met.
- Collaborates extensively with operational departments and management on short- and long-cycle field work.
- Documents scheduling processes and procedures. Drafts new or proposes modifications to existing procedures with recommendations for adoption to ensure effective work planning and scheduling.
- Audits various applications and systems to identify and resolve errors and recommend revisions to practices, procedures, and policies.
- Assists with training new and current Scheduling Analysts as well as application training for other Company employees.
- Manages and issues customer access keys to operational departments.
- Serves as coordinator and facilitator with Information Technology.
- Monitors and ensures all planning and scheduling systems are functioning properly and data is accurately being provided.
- Reviews completed work orders for accuracy and assists in reconciling errors.
- Assists with Company software upgrade, configuration, and testing processes.
- Provides essential reports and queries from planning and scheduling software. Collects, analyzes, and produces ad hoc data requests and reports.
- Presents metrics and recommends strategic actions to ensure annual work completion to Company management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Associate's degree in administration/information management, analytics, development, or equivalent work experience.
- Bachelor's degree in business analytics, information technology, statistics, math, or similar preferred.
- One to three years of relevant work experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong analytical and problem diagnostic/resolution skills.
- Strong math and statistical skills.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
- Able to direct and lead groups, projects, and studies.
- Working knowledge of Power BI or similar business intelligence visualization tools.
- Able to use SQL and/or other programming languages for data queries.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong knowledge of principles of accounting, management, systems analysis, and computer information systems.
- Basic understanding of gas and electric utility metering and energy distribution preferred.
- Familiar with the rules of the Wisconsin Administrative Code which pertain to billing, meter reading, construction, and other utility business preferred.
- Familiar with current MGE operational department work, field activities, and related systems preferred.
