The Planning Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing all production management planning activities within the organization. This position is crucial for achieving excellent customer service, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and ensuring an efficient production schedule. The Planning Manager is responsible for supporting and sustaining KPI controls across departments, including safety, quality, customer service, and efficiency, to meet customer quality and delivery demands. Collaborating with multifunctional support groups, the Planning Manager leads, motivates, and coordinates efforts to instill discipline, best practices, and a world-class continuous improvement culture, aiming to attain and sustain the highest levels of operational excellence.
What you will be doing:
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Managing planning activities in a multi-site environment.
- Leading a weekly Operations planning meeting with KPI reports on planning and manufacturing adherence.
- Supporting and updating weekly production schedules based on S&OP indicators.
- Managing long-term forecasts and collaborating with Operations to develop capacity requirements plans.
- Leading, participating, and presenting in strategic business management meetings.
- Liaising with cross-functional partners to anticipate, mitigate, and prevent potential production delays.
- Planning, scheduling, and anticipating effective production activities.
- Developing production plans, budgets, and timelines according to production specifications.
- Determining production requirements based on plant capacity and production specifications.
- Planning workflow and schedules for production departments.
- Driving and sustaining cost-effective, efficient production through the application of lean manufacturing principles.
- Contributing to the implementation, execution, and improvement of the ERP system.
What you need:
Team Management:
- Building, developing, sustaining, and retaining a high-performing team.

- Developing and managing individual planning team KPIs.
- Training and coaching Production Planners in the optimal use of the ERP system.
- Conducting Planner's performance reviews on an annual basis.
- Addressing disciplinary issues and performance improvement plans.
- Actively leading, participating, and engaging in initiatives and projects aimed at improving KPIs, problem-solving structures, culture, and employee retention.
- Recommending measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, APICS/CPIM, Business Management, Logistics, or a similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7 years of management/supervisory experience with a mid to large-size manufacturing company.
- 3 years' experience with capacity planning in a modern ERP system.
- Competency with Microsoft applications, with advanced Excel spreadsheet skills.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Articulate and persuasive; ability to communicate difficult and complex matters transparently.
- Strong and independent organizational, analytical, detailed planning, and project management skills.
- Ability to turn data into actionable information.
- Self-directed, with the ability to communicate findings, make recommendations, and facilitate change.
Preferred Skills:
- Lean or Six Sigma training or certification desirable.
- APICS certification.
- Value Stream Management system exposure.
- Bilingual in Spanish highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit and stand intermittently, use a keyboard, climb stairs occasionally, and lift up to 25 pounds with or without accommodations.
Some travel maybe required.
