Position Overview: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for full cycle talent management, leadership training, employee relations, engagement, employee competency and meeting/exceeding department and company KPIs. Provide tools and support to enable leadership to be successful.  


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with employees and leadership to create an environment that is safe, engaging, and value-added. Emulate the behavior you want leaders to have/develop. Be the "always learner".
  • Understands overall business and HR strategy and partners with leadership to deliver HR programs, policies and practices. Assesses implications of HR initiatives on business and recommends actions and/or improvements.  
  • Responsibility for full cycle of talent management activities, including effective recruiting, onboarding, orientation, training and development and succession planning.
  • Drives strategic workforce planning in partnership with management to ensure the right people in the right roles at the right time, to achieve business goals and growth strategies.
  • Coaches direct labor and supervisory colleagues through analyzing situations, identifying appropriate action steps and providing appropriate support for decision making.
  • Expand employee engagement through supporting organized events and improving employee communication tools.
  • Through daily practice, ongoing management and audit, ensures compliance with company policies, best practices and federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Anticipates human resource issues, concerns, and needs based on business strategies and internal and external environmental and competitive factors; and recommends proper course of action.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.


Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Communication - ability to clearly and succinctly send a message in a variety of communication settings and styles. Must be able to interact and effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization. Can create open channels of communication, adapt message to fit audience, express ideas clearly and concisely, keep others well-informed, listen carefully to input and feedback. Well versed in delivering training programs. 
  • Spanish speaking language skills, verbal and written are required.
  • Managerial courage - Willingness and ability to champion and enforce company procedures, standards and policies when that may pose a perceived risk professionally. Challenges the status quo. Ability to maintain utmost confidentiality in handling sensitive company and employee information.
  • Behavioral interviewing - adept at techniques to determine top talent and to move them successfully through the identification to orientation process.  
  • Conflict resolution - reads situations quickly, can find common ground and get cooperation with minimum noise. Sees conflict as opportunity. Follows a process to resolve.
  • HR Expertise - always learning about the profession of HR and continuously keeping abreast of new trends, laws and requirements.
  • Detail orientation - does work that is error free the first time. Checks own work to ensure content is accurate, grammatically correct and visually appealing. Verifies the work of others when data supports employment action.
  • Relationship management - after reasonable exposure, can articulate the strengths and limitations of people inside or outside the organization. Creates a climate where people want to do their best - empowers others. Invites input from each person and shares ownership and visibility.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills. Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve problems producing effective solutions to problem statements.
  • Excellent time management skills: concentrating effort on priorities and overall planning, awareness and response to what is due now, short and long term.
  • Strong computing skills: i.e. HCM (ADP Workday), Power Point, Excel.
  • Ability to initiate and complete multiple concurrent projects.
  • High level of business acumen: Understands policies, practices, technology, trends and information and how those affect the business. 


Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a human resources department at an exempt level.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or equivalent preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English is required. 
  • Individual must be authorized to work in the U.S. under one of the following criteria: 1. A citizen of the United States, 2. A lawful permanent resident, 3. A non-citizen National of the United States. 



Reports: The Human Resources Generalist will report directly to the Director of Human Resources and interface with the MIL Management team. 


Hours: Start times may vary depending on position and department.
