Job Essential Functions
- Use of handle tools such as Brake drum dolly, creepers, man lift/scissor lift.
- Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Technical knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware and software used to diagnose vehicle issues.
- Must have a solid grasp on local, state, and federal DOT laws, policies, and procedures for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
- Communicate effectively with other tractor shop employees and supervisor.
- Diagnose and make recommendations on repairs as required
- Perform repairs and modifications on all styles of tractors and trailers
- Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems
- Follow company protocol when checking lights, tires, greasing, adjusting brakes, and checking framework on Trailers
- Perform all types of welding (i.e. aluminum, steel, and stainless steel)
- Use of computer to login/log out orders and invoices
- Change oil, air, and fuel filters
The Diesel/Trailer Tech is responsible for routine maintenance on diesel engine semi tractors as well as diagnosing and repairing the vehicle. Must also be familiar with the mechanical and technical aspect; using diagnostic computer software on our advanced vehicles to identify issues. Perform thorough inspections and repairs on semi-trailers and reefer units in accordance with DOT requirements and industry standards. This position will have knowledge of and experience with various welders and tools used in making all types of repairs on all types of semi-trailers.
Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Diesel Engine Specialist or related degree from a secondary institution position a plus
- Commercial Driver’s License a plus
- We provide training for entry level technicians
