Position Summary
As an Improvement Specialist supporting the MaineHealth Medical Group, you will work with a small but highly collaborative team with extensive access to monthly professional development opportunities. These monthly meetings will take expertise from around the organization in the other areas of Quality and ensure you are always learning and fostering knowledge. Collaboration and key ownership of system wide projects along with the other highlighted key details, listed below, will be the building blocks of this role. The flexibility of a hybrid, minimum of one day a week in the office schedule, will allow you to feel the nurturing culture of the Leadership team, while being able to work from home as well if desired!
Partners with leadership, managers, staff and clinicians to advance the most critical enterprise initiatives in performance and quality improvement. Leads highly complex projects to design, develop, modify and implement healthcare delivery systems with enhanced quality, safety and value. Provides a range of consultation services to organizational leaders and department managers on the development and implementation of key strategies for creating and sustaining a high performing healthcare organization. Develops and leads formal trainings and coaching to staff, managers, clinicians and senior leaders about change management, systems thinking and data driven problem solving to promote deeper understanding of system failures and opportunities for improvement. Serves as a system-wide leader for applying performance improvement and project management theory and techniques.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
-
Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent training with at least five years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting OR bachelor’s degree with at least three years of relevant experience OR master’s degree with at least one year of relevant experience required. Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, business or healthcare administration preferred.

License/Certifications: Formal performance improvement certification at the Green Belt level or equivalent required. Project management certification and facilitation certification preferred.

Experience: See "Education." Experience with relevant statistical analysis software preferred.

Demonstrated ability to complete multiple quality improvement projects in a healthcare setting required

Demonstrated analytic skills, e.g., project-related data analysis and reporting, required

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint or equivalent required

Understanding of consulting models and high level of business acumen preferred

Formal performance improvement training at the Black Belt level preferred
