What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chef position at Mainfreight?
We are looking for team members responsible for the operations within the kitchen including, but not limited to, meal preparations, kitchen inventory, sanitation standards, menu planning, etc. Large component of job is serving and engaging with the warehouse and office teams.
Responsibilities
- Prepare breakfast and lunch for 30-60 people.
- Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed and in the correct uniform.
- Must make sure that all food is properly stored and prepared within food safety guidelines.
- Manages kitchen supply stock levels
- Plan and organize to ensure the goals and objectives of the kitchen and team are handled
· Maintain clean and sanitary organized work station, storage and surrounding areas.
In addition, other duties maybe required as directed by your manager
Requirements:
- Friendly and customer service oriented.
- Extensive knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety standards.
- Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills; resolve issues to get the job done.
- Willingness to continue learning and growing as professional within the company.
- Have a great sense of organization and work well under high volume/pressure situations.
- Must be able to work M-F
- Ability to read and write the English language, conduct business related mathematics, and analyze data as required.
- Applicants with Spanish language proficiency desired.
Skills
- Required to stand during scheduled hours.
- Kneeling, stooping must be able to lift weights up to 25 pounds. Working rapidly especially during peak periods to ensure that the department operations are being completed in a timely manner
- Excel and computer proficient
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience in a professional kitchen
- Proven experience as a chef or cook in a high-volume restaurant or catering establishment
- Strong knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills
